Is that definitely your eye condition WaS? Not giving medical advice but that sounds like conjunctivitis to me.

Yesterday I saw an elf hoody at Tesco

  • It could be code! I have steroid drops anyway which I have popped in so we shall see if it works.

You have to buy that hoodie, I love it! I am sure dumbass dog would approve!

    Penguin (talks about death)

My american friend has just discovered another friend of hers has died. He was found with his laptop still on his lap, he was only 26. Cause of death isn't known yet but it is suspected that it was his heart. I feel terrible for her, he had been mentioning that he had indigestion for the past month and now she feels awful that she didn't nag him to go to the doctors. It is hard to know what to say other than it isn't her fault. I am trying not to think that it was something to do with me, all she needs now is me becoming psychotic. The stupid voices are already telling me that I am going to die soon and leave her, I am ignoring them. It is just so terribly sad and there isn't really much I can say other than listen to her. I wish that I could do more.

First of all, it wasn't your fault. It wasn't your friend's fault either. It was just one of those things.

As for the voices saying you're going to die, well you're just not. Not yet. Tell the bad voices they're talking a load of balls then get a hug from Sir P.

FIRSTLY - not blanked out - IT WASN'T ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOU! ((((())))) And we already know the voices lie, don't we! :D

Secondly - I'm sure it is doing your friend good to talk to you. It's so sad when young people die unexpectedly (or expectedly, come to that, but at least the latter gives those round them time to prepare). I know the whole thing about death is difficult for you, but we all somehow have to accept that when your time is up, it's up. And the person themself will have died quickly and painlessly, by the sound of things, so that all that is left is a terrible shock for those left behind, plus, if we are lucky, lovely memories and a life which will live on in the way it has affected others.

Sorry I can't be wiser and have better answers - big hugs.

  • Oh no! I've just realised that the post that you have taken down, haybel, is that really great one about EMDR therapy :( I do apologise for not replying to it properly last night, but genuinely I was planning to read it at more leisure later because I had it tagged mentally as 'post for re-reading'. Oh dear, I feel sad now. Do put it up again, haybel, if you have a copy because I bet there were loads more people who learnt masses from it. Honestly honestly, I went to sleep thinking about it last night and wondering how the taps on the knee and rhythmic structure help with the reprogramming. Sorry to be so dim earlier - of COURSE that is the post that is missing! x

Aw, thank you both. I am sitting here talking to my friend and cuddling Sir P, there might be the odd swear word being flung at the voices occasionally, too. My friend is doing ok, she is just very shocked. She saw him yesterday morning and he was fine.

And I agree with, JM! I loved your post haybel, I didn't even have anything to add as I said in my reply because you had covered everything so well. It was a wonderfully helpful post, thank you so much for the time and effort it took you to write it, I thought it was such a great resource for others. Big hugs.

Haybel, am a bit puzzled because I thought I'd thanked your EMDR post. I'm sure I did, because I always thank posts after I've read them.
    :(
After I'd read it, I googled it and bookmarked an article on it for future reference/research. It was very interesting and useful, and I'm glad you took the time to write it. Thank you.

WaS, I doubt that even a lot of doctors would have done anything more than prescribe Gaviscon if that young man had gone to them with 'indigestion'. Cardiomyopathy is so rare. However, it is a lesson to us all that if we hear of anybody, however old, complaining of indigestion, that we insist they get their heart checked out. And from now,on, we will. Even if your friend had nagged him to go, the chances are a 26-yr old would have poo-pooed that idea. It certainly wasn't her fault, and there is no way on earth it was yours.
However, in the future, knowing what we know now, we may save someone's life, as a direct result of this very sad event.
