Aw, don't worry MU. I do that myself. Sometimes I barely say 5 words to WaSp in a day. I bet it isn't anything that he or you have done or often anything that has happened, if he is like me I just need some time to withdraw for a while and be inside of my own head. Also it is often better that I do that than babble incoherently if something is stressing me, it is easier to work out what I am thinking first. A lot of people do that, just be there for beau if he needs you and eventually he will work out whatever it is, not that there is necessarily even a cause. Keep telling yourself that it isn't anything to do with you, he just needs some time to close off for a while.

Taken down as despite writing an incredibly detailed and thought provoking post- not one person with the exception of WaS actually even acknowledged its existence.

    Thank you WaS :o

Being a natural born worrier who worries about literally everything, its been a little difficult not taking it personally or worrying its my fault.

You're right, he just needs some time :)

MessedUp, I have something that means that I sometimes get overloaded and just have to switch off/be alone/zone out. At minimum I just fall quiet and observe. At maximum I have to go home and be alone for a couple of days, sometimes also I need to stay in bed for a day. It's due to too much input.
Inbetween situations might see me going into a daydream, or getting home and having to sit down with a crossword, to shut everything else out.

I don't know what job beau does, but if it is very demanding intellectually, he might just need to shut the world out, to recharge.

    I love

  • That was a perfect explanation, haybel! What worked for me was my therapist tapped on my knees alternately, the same regularly rhythm to remove the blockage caused by the PTSD. You are completely correct that the amount of detail you can recall is amazing, often people with PTSD can recall their dreams very vividly, too. As you said it is because the brain doesn't file the experiences away, they remain in the main focus of the concious mind as if they just happened yesterday with the memory completely intact.

I agree with you that there is no cure for PTSD. It can be improved through a variety of therapies but the triggers still exist, they just hopefully lessen. I am far more able to cope with my PTSD symptoms than I used to be but they will never leave entirely, it is a question of learning to adapt to them and knowing what might be a trigger.

  • Ok, that's annoying. Celebrities got to cuddle Santa at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland. They are adults and got to see Santa! I am going to go off and sulk now...
