Its getting dark here already. My face is complaining about the change of weather from mild to chilly and I have forgotten to bring painkillers. Because of this my body has gone to its default sleep mode and keeps trying to fall asleep even though I'm at my desk.

    But it's Friday!

Also, I still have panettone to try. I tried macarons recently for the first time too.

Glad you are feeling better HBS! Chest infections aren't good!

Pyxis, I now want to fill your inbox *evil grin* Once on the site for teenagers I used to manage a group of them decided to fill my inbox with 'useless facts'. We could have 500 mails at once and could only delete 10 at a time. Another time they sent 500 Happy Birthday messages. They did like me, honestly! My american friend was one of those teenagers at the time. Eventually she started working on the site with me (I got my revenge and made her moderator one day without telling her and she panicked) and then we became firm friends. I tease her sometimes that I knew her when she was a stroppy (but adorable) 14 year old, now she is a child psychologist with her own group of stroppy teenagers. That was 16 years ago, how time flies.

I drink strong black tea in the mornings after my coffee but for the rest of the day I drink Earl Grey and occasionally peppermint or chamomile. I drink a LOT of tea, probably around a litre a day.

I had EMDR, too but I shall let haybel tell everyone about it because it was back when it first came out which was a long time ago now. It has blended in with the rest of the therapies I have had.

I am totally exhausted today and yawning everywhere. I am glad that I have the weekend off before the rheumatologist appointment on Monday.

  • I managed to spill black coffee all over my laptop this morning so have had to wait a few hours for it to dry out , a long wait with only my phone to play with. I don't drink anything with milk in, yucky stuff ! Lots of my family are lactose intolerant in different ways. I am glad I can still eat cheese, I just avoid 'raw' milk.

I've never had enough PM's to fill my inbox :(

Hope CM is feeling OK, what a horrible experience.

I've had a busy day supporting a friend who suffers anxiety at the best of times and now has had some distressing news . Although I wouldn't wish the situation on her it is nice to feel wanted and needed and that I can do something to help.

Farmer son is on his way home for the weekend , am looking forward to some hugs :)

I am glad you were able to support your friend, oyster. I hope things get better for her soon, I am sure that you were a great comfort.

Have a great weekend with your son and enjoy those hugs!

Mine pm box only had about 3 in the inbox. It was the outbox that caused the freeze. I have hoarderish tendencies so wouldn't delete any if I could help it!

At the bottom of msgs, there is an option to export at text (at least, there is in mine). I tick them all (in one go), export to text, then copy all this text into Word. (This is probably what you mean). :)

(OOOPS! While I was writing this, my inbox filled up for a moment! Now there is space again :D)

You can keep them elsewhere if you follow JM's tip above. I did earlier, and cleared all my boxes.

    Lol thank you :p

I seem to be needed a lot on that alphabet thread :D

Another week of work done, my shift tonight got swapped to a 2-8 instead of being on till close and tbh i'm actually pretty happy it did! I have tomorrow off and can now relax. :D

Not feeling as stress with work this week which is good. Bit worried bout the beau. :( He apparently has times when he just kind of switches off from the world (apparently its happened before, he doesn't know what causes it and it tends to pass eventually), he's assured me its nothing ive done, but i'm giving him some space until he feels better and ready to talk. I have experienced similar before myself, where ive just not felt able to engage with anyone and have retreated into my own little bubble. He knows i'm here for him 100% but i have to let him deal with it as best he can. All i can do is be there. He did text me earlier telling me that its not just me he's gone quiet on, but pretty much everyone and reassured me its nothing ive done and that i shouldn't worry cos he will be ok.

  • I was talking just now to my american friend about how her and friends used to fill my inbox and we started remembering how things used to be back then. My friend was part of a group of teenagers who basically used to terrorise the site. They were all very anti-authority and could be quite mean, but all came from very troubled home lives. The other manager wanted to ban them but I stuck up for them time and time again and refused. One day they were all rebelling about the site rules so I messaged my friend (she was 15 back then) and said ok, I hear you. Get everyone together and tell me what you would like the rules to be and let's write them together. My friend asked everyone and came back with a list and together we wrote the new forum rules, compromising on both sides.

My friend tells me that, that was a defining moment for her. It was the first time in her life that an adult had asked her opinion and she felt that she had been taken seriously. It was also the first time she had ever felt 'special' and as if what she had said was worthwhile, she was always belittled and ignored at home. That memory stayed with her and is what made her become attached to me and made her interested in psychology which she we went on to make her career and she is now a very good child psychologist who is completely dedicated to the children she helps.

I thought it was a lovely thing to say and it means a lot to me that it meant a lot to her. The other manager had no idea that I had done that and wouldn't have approved of me allowing the members to 'make the rules' but it worked very well and afterwards they all became much closer to me and far more cooperative. I am still in contact with some of those then-teenagers now, a lot are married with children of their own and grew up into lovely adults, several work in psychological fields helping teenagers who are similar to how they used to be.

I just had to share because it makes me want to cry that I was able to make a difference in my friends life from what was really such a small thing. Sometimes our smallest of gestures can make such a difference.
