The first thing my DD said when she woke up this morning, with a huge smile, was: The fairies haven't come yet! I wonder how many there will be. I think it will be more than two!
(I am going to have to go onto the Christmas elves thread to get some ideas for how the fairies may show they've been).
Yes, I think in every situation where someone has been humiliated and embarrassed, it is not a normal human reaction to want to inflict that on someone, and also if anyone does overhear there are probably more people who would want to be kind but don't know what to say to counteract the unkindness.
Have you told your DH yet, WaS. I honestly don't think you have anything to be ashamed for, and it would be great if this unkind, misunderstood woman wasn't allowed to rob any more of your life. I do completely understand your reaction as I would have felt the same.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. I also wanted to add that I have had many, many more heartwarming moments on the buses over the years. My toddler son having everybody laughing as he fed a guide dog from his bottle early one morning when I was sitting with my eyes closed. DS playing peekaboo with a college student, DS leading the whole bus in a rousing rendition of postman pat one night on our way back from meeting friends with pizzas, DS being given £1 from a group of Irish men who told him he'll always be lucky and then two nuns telling me he deserved the money.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. OK, I need to be kicked! I don't even know how long it has been now but the toilet cistern still isn't fixed, we are using buckets of water. Why? Because I can't bring myself to tell the landlord that there is a problem! When we first moved in we were having cold showers for 6 months because I didn't tell him that the hot water was broken, eventually when I did he changed a fuse and fixed it in 5 minutes flat.
I shall reply to posts shortly, but please someone kick me because I am stressing myself out, here. I have to stop thinking that telling people that something has broken means that I am responsible and therefore negligent and horrid, etc. I make no sense.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

WaS, tell your landlord this minute and report back as I will be waiting...:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Ok, whitewing! (I don't even have to talk anyone, I email his wife, it's so ridiculous I have so many problems doing it).Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I much prefer the idea of glamping.
WaS, have you sent that email yet?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I did it, whitewing! Thank you for the kick, I so needed that! My landlords wife tells me that I am her most pleasant tenant. The reason for this is that I fall over myself with every email. That one contained 3 sorry's, 2 thank you's and a long, gushing sentence about how I love living here and don't mean to be any trouble. I shall now hide under my duvet for 10 minutes.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Thanks KT2802. I'm exhausted & distressed just listening sometimes, so I hate to think how the voice hearer must feel. It does give me a feeling of usefulness though after I've calmed him, as sometimes all people need it reassurance.0

Well done WaS! Enjoy your blanket time as these things can be exhausting. I have days when I deal with everything with confidence, & other days I just feel that the time's not right so I leave it.0
