I've been thinking about this, and these are some things that I would like, if I were in hospital, so she might like some of them, too:

    Facial cleansing wipes
Cryptic crosswords and pencil with an eraser tip
    Rowntrees fruit gums
    Small notebook and pen
    Some funny jokes
Nail file, clippers and emery board
    Tube of hand cream
Dried figs (hospitals can make you constipated!
    Packet of biscuits
    Magazine (horsey one?)
    A funny wind-up walking toy
Parma violets -(medicines can give you a funny taste in your mouth and/or bad breath)
Évian water spray, for when you get too hot
    Tissues
Earplugs, in case the ward is noisy at night

Great list. When I was in hospital I really appreciated a little hand held battery operated fan, nice showergel and a body butter. I also liked to have a book to read as I used to get through magazines pretty quickly.

A frequent symptom with the psychotic illnesses is imagining secret messages and codes where they do not exist. In my case, if I read something, particularly where someone is being harsh towards another person I will start to see patterns in the words and the phraseology or the letters used, subtle changes in the spacing or within typos and they will begin to mean something. Usually, it seems that the message is directed at me, that the hostile response is not to other posters at all but left in code for me to find. It is a subtle way of them telling me what they think of me and that they know the truth about how horrid I really am.

A more common form of this particularly with schizophrenia is seeing codes implying government conspiracies or even alien intervention, a feeling that one is being spied upon. I do not suffer with those but I do occasionally believe that people can somehow know how cruel and mean I am and leave subtle messages hinting that they know the truth and are transmitting that to other people. Their anger towards others seems to be secretly directed at me, as if they are planting clues about what they think of me for other readers to pick up on.

Long story short, I have to take more care about what I read online on this site and others.

p.s Don't worry I am fine really, just managed to trigger myself. I'll survive, I am building an imaginary wall and moat around this thread, it's safe here! Thank you for the hugs!

Oh dear, I make so many typos. WaS, when I make typos they are carelessness or the result of my neurological condition, absolutely nothing else. I promise! On another long running thread I am on we call them lirisms. When I started using Mse it was because it was more interesting than other types of language therapy I was doing for the recovery of language skills. Some days my writing is clearer than others.

Don't worry, LIR! I don't normally even notice typo's. They only stand out to me once I look for them, which I will only do if they are in a post which is aggressive in some way, otherwise I just think they are just ordinary mistakes. If they are used to attack or hurt another person though, then it might be a code (apparently). It makes no sense but it is all about the context of the post. I actually trust everyone here quite a lot so nothing would upset me. There is no need for anyone to worry at all, this is my safe place and anyway, I can't say I have noticed you make any typos at all LIR!

    Thank you for that WaS.

Please, please tell us, though, individually by PM if necessary, if we're inadvertently writing in a style or posting things that make you feel uncomfortable or trigger an episode, won't you, WaS?

We're all learning on this thread, and it would be helpful to know if what we see as an innocuous statement in one of our posts was having a bad effect on you. Without knowing, we could blithely stumble on, making life difficult for you, when that's the opposite to what's intended!

So do please let us know, won't you? :)

Yes, l was a little worried that some of my questions previously had triggered a bad, delayed response.

WaS, do get posts deleted off this thread without explanation if you need to.

In certain frames of mind, I also find some posts on other threads can trigger suicidal thoughts. Not threads where the poster is worried, because I know I can help alleviate that, but posts where people are nasty to each other. I can manage respectful disagreements. If there are too many in succession on different threads, I can get to a point that I need to come off the site altogether. It is amplified if there is a lot of stress eg with extended family too. I think some of it is that I take it upon myself to go into 'saviour' mode to try and reduce the impact on the poster that it is directed at. It can start to become addictive, if I am not careful.

Have a good day, everybody. Blue skies and sunshine here. Hope dibuzz is sleeping soundly.
