Elsien, if you were near us, you'd be welcome to walk Gitdog in one of our fields where he could run off some energy with no risk of causing any problems but I doubt very much you are.

It's like he gets overstimulated and goes loopy. He does it off-lead in the garden, and if I'm really lucky in the house as well. It's improved in that it used to finish with a flying leap and a bite whereas today's effort was the flying leap without the bite. I could have done without the embarrassment factor though.
Lir, thanks for the thought, much appreciated.

Edit - WaS, did you know it's the law that you have to eat chips when at the beach? Tell Wasp he has to plan your route past a chippy.

Does he have 'normal' mad half hours in the garden?

My lot are weird although they are within earshot of other dogs they don't take part in the starlight bark any more. :( I think it might be that they haven't met any of the earshot dogs on walks. :(. Makes me sad, but also grateful, that they do not have onto

Yes, chips and ice cream, essential! I also have to add a new shell and a pebble to my collection. I started collecting shells and pebbles with my dad as a child and I always add some everytime I go. Plus a little jar of sand to take home with me to remember it by. Honestly, this is like going on a 2 week holiday to me, I am stupidly excited!

On the subject of dogs when we first moved here a police officer and dog were standing outside our flat at night. I went downstairs and asked him if I could say hello, while standing at a distance. The officer raised an eyebrow and smiled and told his dog to rest. It immediately laid down and then he told me to say hello. It was such a calm and relaxed dog, somehow I expected it to be more alert and jumpy but really even police dogs have time off to relax I suppose! It was a truly lovely collie dog and happily sat there while I cooed over it. He also told me that I was lucky that he wasn't working because the public aren't supposed to approach the dogs while they work because it confuses them.

    Good morning all!
. So...we have decided to make this the week that I get to the beach. Granted at night time when no one is about but I said that I would see the sea once this year so this week it is.

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness... I am so excited! I haven't even read the rest of the thread yet but I had to be excited 'out loud'.

  • Hahahahaha! I feel the same, whitewing! This was one of my goals for this year!

After you've been, will you tell us which beach it was. You don't have to. It would make me feel connected to you to know, but don't feel that you have to if you want to make regular trips there.

  • I can tell you now! It is likely to be the little stretch of beach right in front of the Isle of Wight! It is very, very quiet there and I have been before. I like watching the ferries cross and the lights twinkling on the island plus it is quite near to us.
