  • Oh, I know that feeling dibuzz, I am often awake for over 24 hours and feel completely exhausted and am still unable to sleep at all. I have no advice to offer on that I am afraid, I have tried about every approach going, if you find a solution do share!

I am sorry to hear about your arm, don't forget to keep it clean and avoid long sleeves, it is torture if they catch on it. I don't pull my hair but I do have psoriasis on my scalp and I will pull that off until it bleeds, I know that sounds disgusting.

Dibuzz, have you tried any of the alternatives (to cutting) that were mentioned earlier in the thread?

Ok, I am going to do something I hardly ever do and go against medical advice and come off of this dose of anti-psychotics, I cannot manage another 24 hours like this or worse. I have just managed to throw the laptop across the room by shoving my arm straight into it. It was worth a try but the TD symptoms are terrible and quite frankly a psychotic episode is easier than this. At least with the latter it is only 12 hours of Hell and then I forget most of what happened days later.

Right now I just want to curl up in a ball and sob. I am having to shift position every few seconds and I have very little control over my body movements. I cannot even walk to the bathroom unaided. I will email my consultant and explain why I have ended the high dose a day early and hopefully it was for long enough to stop a crisis anyway. This is just miserable, and if I get stressed which I am, I am more likely to become psychotic anyway. I hate my sensitivity to medication. I shall start reducing it back down with tonight's dose, I have to reduce slowly or there can be withdrawal.

Here I go with my warnings- the only reason I can do this is because this was only for 5 days and I am reducing it back down to my normal dosage, I am not stopping medication. Never, ever do that without discussing it with your doctor first, even in this case I am emailing my consultant to keep him aware. I am still reducing it slowly because it is very dangerous to stop or alter any medication all at once. Be careful people!

Can you put some of your youtube rain on to help calm you?

Good luck with the meds, WaS. Sounds as if you are doing what you need to do, and it's good that you are keeping your consultant in the loop.

Here's hoping you are through the worst. And rain does sound a brilliant idea :)

I am clinging to pugliet for dear life, he is enjoying his journeys through the air as I stretch my arm! I decided to get my partner to run around to my GP's, (they are open until 9pm 2 days a week so he will have just made it) and tell him what I am doing, I do want someone medical to know I am doing this before I attempt it but really there shouldn't be a risk, I would be reducing back down after tomorrow anyway. But I do try never to change a thing without a doctor being aware of it.

I can see pugliet becoming quite the gymnast with the somersault practice :D

Hope the change in meds helps WaS..

LiR - you've done great today if you've managed till into the evening - hopefully you will continue to see improvements.
  • May I shoot myself? My GP cannot comment without seeing me and believes I may need medication to control the TD so recommended we go to A&E! So lets see, I was put onto a high dose to try to counteract the fall-out from going out on Friday which has resulted me having to go out today for more treatment. To coin a popular internet phrase Epic Fail!

Wish me luck, it looks as if I am going out again. Pugliet is coming with me!
