Can i just say, being unable to sleep (had a few days without my meds) i have been re-reading your thread and honestly, you give one of the most honest, heartfelt and genuine insights into your experiences not just with mental health but life too. You really do have a brilliant talent for writing, and i think everyone should read this thread as it will go a long way to giving people a real insight into mental illness. Thank you :)

Incidentally writing is something i've done myself, in some ways to help me cope, in other ways to keep a record but its nothing as comprehensive as this and mine isn't something i've been brave enough to share with people like you have

I wish you a peaceful nights rest :)

*waves to messedup and to anyone else who may be lurking and sharing our experiences*

I am lurking too and finding this thread SO informative... ..and beautifully written. Thankyou WaS : xxx

I have a friend who suffers from severe mental illness. I told her about WaS's experience of not knowing whether she is awake or dreaming, and my friend said she has felt like that and that it was very frightening. So it has helped me to have more insights into the feelings my friend gets.

Also my husband has terribly intrusive thoughts. It will enable me to understand him more.

    Thanks once again.

When I took early retirement ten years ago, my friend sent me a card with 'welcome to the seven day weekend' on it and I thought it was a very apt user name for a retired person. :)

It was suggested that the Thread Etiquette be posted every 10 pages or so, as information for any lurkers. I have done so here, but if people feel anything different is required, e.g. posted less often or whatever, just let me know!

    ......................................... ......................................... ..................

Ok, ref. post #2000, here is the suggested THREAD ETIQUETTE. By following this etiquette, all posters, whether new or existing, will feel safe, unpressured and respected.

    - This is a thread for support. We have discovered some good friends on here, but we promise always to welcome and include new people, and not to be cliquey.

    - People may make suggestions to help each other, and might even ask if the suggestions were helpful or have been carried out, but we'll really try not to nag each other or put too much pressure on.

    - The normal board rules about sexism, racism, homophobia etc. apply, but if we are careful we should be able to discuss almost anything without breaching board rules - so far we have discussed subjects ranging from child abuse to incontinence!

-If someone thinks that too much pressure is being applied, they can post the trigger word PENGUIN and flag up the fact that they believe there's a potential for someone feeling too nagged to do something. ANYONE could post PENGUIN if they felt there was a danger that suggestions were being enforced too much.

    ......................................... ......................................... ............

    - More suggestions please.............We stress that we are suggesting that we AGREE some Thread Etiquette to HELP people who might feel anxious about posting, we are not trying to IMPOSE rules, just relating this to facilitating groups, so that people feel safe and able to participate as fully as they can., whether new or existing, will feel safe, unpressured and respected..
