  • Good point! I like my hair. It is almost identical to this in style if I let it dry naturally and scrunch it instead of using heat. My fringe is a bit shorter, just below my eyebrows and it is chocolate brown. But the length and bounce is the same and yes it is that messy. Hence daily tangles.

You've stolen my hair! I always wanted curls like that - the one time I tried for my brother's wedding the waves had dropped out before I left the department store the salon was in. That's not messy, that's just right.

  • Aw, thank you. It needs a lot more looking after than I give it, hence tangles and matting. It tangles incredibly easily, this is why looking after my hair better is on my goals list. I do like it, though. If it is shorter it gets even more bouncy and turns into a triangle on my head. It isn't the best look so I keep the length!

Hahaha elsien, it's a pain to look after! As a child I had tight curls but they dropped out by my teenage years and this is what remains. I straightened it for years because the slightest wind and it's in knots.

Strange isn't it how people want the opposite to what they've got? When I was a teenager I was desperate for the type of curls you had, and there were you, trying to get rid of yours. Contrary beings, us humans.

  • That's so true! I envied my friends with straight hair, it always looked so sleek and shiny and perfectly groomed. Mine is very fine and dry so seldom shines even if I straighten it. I don't use any heat on it now, though as it was just making it dryer and more fly-away then ever!

WaS, that hair is gorgeous, and chocolate brown...my dream hair.

Would you post a photo of yourself as a child? Or would that spoil the book? We will keep pestering you about the book. I am first in the queue to buy it.

My dad actually told my husband not to marry me. He couldn't understand how anyone want to. It would have been laughable, had he not been genuinely befuddled.

I rather like that poem by Philip Larkin (contains swear words)

ETA: I don't take it seriously though.

Wow! WaS! That is amazing hair - no wonder you do agree you have lovely hair. While I understand tangles can be a pain, it must be great to have hair you can change the style, mine just hangs, & that's it.
Come on the rest of you, let's see what you're a bit like!

My teacher friend sends me that poem everytime I am having a bad day, whitewing! He keeps saying it sums my life up!

I am sorry that your dad said that, I can totally understand being befuddled!

I don't have any photos of me as a child sadly. My uncle possibly has some but my mother burnt them all rather dramatically during a psychotic episode. I only have one photo of her and none of my dad, she was convinced that they were possessing people at the time so the lot went up in flames.

My hair is handy in that I can put it up, Solar. It is dry enough to stay put most times. It is almost always in a ponytail although I let it down everytime I go out.

Incidentally, I am hoping that I inherited the only good gene from my parents. Neither of them had grey hair. My dad had jet black hair at 55 and my mother had chocolate brown hair at 63 with no grey at all. I haven't any grey hairs so far so I am hoping fate might at least be kind and let me inherit the one useful trait. Not that I don't like it, I love solid white hair but I would be lucky if I got that.
