Debt can be avoided. You just have to grow up and become responsible.0

I have missed using cheques since starting to use a credit/debit card because I used to be able to keep a better running total of money in the front of my cheque book. I still use cheques to pay for DD's dance classes and for lunch money.
I wonder if when the banks phase out cheques if prices will go up because the retailer loses a percantage on every card transaction that they accept. Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -

I have noticed recently, though, people are asking if I take CC, and a couple of younger (18/19 year old) students have had to ask me how to fill in a cheque as they have never had to before!
I'm just thinking that, if the banks do phase out cheques completely, if I set up a small business, I'm going to have to change how I'd pay suppliers who didn't have direct debit/BACS facilities (and not all companies do)... You can't send cash through the post (well, you can, but Royal Mail doesn't recommend it).0 -

I run several online business's and don't have this problem. I think you'd find it wouldn't effect you at all.0 -

It was about the same time as pound notes where in circulation.
I havent seen a pound note or someone paying with a 'cheque book' in a shop before. Is it true that these people use a 'wireless' too?0
