I, FOR ONE,OBJECT.
This is the notice I saw on checkout dividers at Fulbourn on Saturday.
I have gone back to using cheques as being more Fraud/Clone proof.
The blurb said something about speeding up service - nonsense!
If this has been posted elsewhere, apologies.

A lot of shops are stopping taking cheques due to increased fraud. If someone stole your card and didnt know your pin, if they stole your cheque book aswell then they could just use that with a forged signature (and honestly, how closely do most check out people check (yes I know some do, but alot dont)).
I am ok with this, as I feel cheques can easily be used when stolen.Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
Cheques are the slowest method of payment you can get.0

unless your stuck behind the person in the line who after putting on the shopping on the conveyor, having it scanned, packing each item in the bags alphabetically, then restacking them in the trolly.. remembers they have to pay..
so goes back to the trolly to retreve their hand bag..
roots arround in the bottom of the hand bag to retreive purse.. searches out the correct card.. puts purse back in bag.. then remembers loyalty card.. retreves purse hands over loyalty card..
hands cards to checkout person.. no they don't want cash back.. but then again let them think.. no its ok.. no cash back.. so they then has to root arround in bag to find glasses.. takes glasses out of case.. enters pin..
Retreves purse from bag, to replace cards..
Retreves glasses case from bag to put glasses back..
files receipt in amongst other receipts sorted by colour and date..
puts hand bag back in trolly, and just when you think we are done.. will stand at the bottom of the checkout blocking the way with their trolly, while they arsk a fellow older generation person about their day.. !!!!!
but maybe its just me that gets  at that.. ??The only place where success comes before work is the dictionary…

Another Tesco rant.
Most shops do not take cheques so why pick on Tesco's?0 -
Boots don't take cheques. Most petrol stations have stopped too.
My uncle has a small shop and he takes cheques. Even when he correctly fills out all the guarantee details on the reverse, a bank will still bounce the cheque. The man without a signature.0 -

Simple answer for you then:
Dont shop there! im sure the amount of money they loose from customers "objecting" and not shopping there anymore would be considerably less than what is loss dur to fraud!0
