What Are My Rights?

Husband left and is now renting somewhere.

He keeps going to our home which he left when I am out and snooping round my stuff not that I have anything to hide but surely thats not right??

Can I change the locks? His name is on the mortgage not that he gives me any money and I know he has some rights but this is taking the mick.

He is looking at all the letters I have got from tax credits seeinghow much I get from them looking at all personal emails etc.

Please help I don't know what to do.

I would change the locks, he's made his choice and has no right to snoop through your stuff (even if you were still a couple)
    I haven't got one!

I don't know about rights, but how about getting some sort of lockable container to put your valuables in. That way if he does snoop he can't see what you don't want him to.
    Loving the dtd thread. x

I'd also change your passwords to your email accounts.
  • My email comes through outlook so not sure if I can do that or how.

He has really annoyed me and I'm not home till late tonight as I have a late work meeting so won't know what he has taken.

Hold on a minute, are you saying that he has moved out, you are paying the mortgage and his name is still on the deeds?!?!? Shouldn't you buy him out or sell the house? Seems a bit unfair to you. Of course, not sure of your situation or whether you can afford to do this.

With all due respect to you, what a snot your ex is!!!!!!!!! How rude! Talk about wanting his bread buttered both sides!! If I were you, if you don't have any kids, leave a whole lot of condoms lying around, with men's underpants etc, let him find that! :D

    Change the locks!!!!!!

Even if you can't change your email password you should be able to password your login to the computer so he can't get on to it at all.

Change the locks NOW, then he can't come in when you're in the house on your own either

Get your valuables (passport etc) to your mum / a trusted friend

    Change the locks
Get his name off the mortgage or his share of the mortgage off him

Check that you've been keeping a record of the payments you make to the mortgage.

    Go see a solicitor asap

    Good advice here.

The house is up for sale - I can't afford the mortgage on my own or to buy him out. I do have kids too so the condom thing is out of the question but :rotfl: .

I know what I need to do its just hard doing it, I do need a solicitor but i thought that it could be done amicably but obviously not. He reckons half the tax credits should be his as they are his kids too even though they are living with me. He just spends his wages on beer and stuff

RAHH I'm so angry I want to go home and see what he had taken this time.
