Great "Best Generic Products" Hunt

Asda's own soft cheese is far better than any other supermarket own brand I've tried; lovely and smooth and creamy... mmm... as good as Philadelphia I'd say.'Still dealing with my debt, but I'll get there. Keep smiling.'0

The best savings in Generic Brands have to be made in the chemist section. Okay a bit basic... but for thrush, you can buy Difluican for £13 or in Adsa own brand the exact same product chemically for under a fiver. Even Boots own brand is more than that...it is a great deal, also check out the cost of Nurofen versus Asda own brand Ibuprofen which sells at around 35p. They are exactly the same product!0

I find Virgin cola and diet cola better than the 'real' stuff. Also Tesco value choc biscuits, and Co-op own brand crackers! Far superior even to Jacobs!0

Re Value/Basics/Smartprice toilet roll, I've found Sainsbury's Basics to be best of them all - the layers of the Tesco one tend to separate after a few 'turns' and the Asda one looks like kitchen roll so I haven't even tried it! Sainsbury's is still the same price though (40p) and the softest cheapie loo roll I've found.0

I agree, I make a baked chocolate cheesecake, and Asda's own makes the creamiest one! Great with any own brand double cream & Mackie's vanilla ice-cream (not the cheapest, but certainly tastes fantastic and has no junk in it!)0 -
I find most of Ali's stuff extremely good. OH likes the Belgium lager - says it's as good as Stella - for £2.57 for a 4-pack. Baked beans, tinned tomatoes, tuna, etc are good.
If you like ice cream, try Alid triangular ones. Not amazingly cheap, but the best ice creams we've tried for a long time. I especially like the ones with strawberry sauce! Yum!
I also buy plants from Aldi - generally cheaper than anywhere else and just as good. Clothes too - I've bought things for my grandson that have been washed and washed and lasted well.42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot:hello: Good Luck everyone !:hello:0 -
Aldi ice cream Milfina and Grandessa 1.49/1.59/litre. I did not like ice cream until I tried these. They are made with real cream, real strawberries, vanilla seeds, etc. and are cheaper than other premium brands.
I do most of my grocery shopping at Aldi or Lidl because of the high quality and good prices. I dislike most shops that offer too much choice; it makes shopping a chore, but I can whizz round Aldi in minutes.0 -
Cotton Soft loo rolls - thicker, softer and eco friendly, what more could you ask for? Oh, and they're cheaper by far than most "eco" brands! They're made from cotton waste, hence the name [and the texture]. Oh, and no "doubling up", zcaprd7, either! If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0

1/2 the price of Mr Muscle, it does the same job and leaves a lovely fresh smell.0
