With branded medications eg: anadin, solpadeine, calpol, nurofen, loperamide, piriton, piriteze, zirtek, loratadine, canesten etc, etc : you are often paying extra for advertising and packaging and brand names.
All chemists -whether supermarkets or your local independant pharmacist will have generic equivalents, which contain exactly the same active ingredient BUT are a fraction of the cost. Ask your pharmacist - I'm sure he'll be happy to help you.
Try alternative moisturisers to E45 - ask for aqueous cream, or emulisfying ointment (if you need soemthing more greasy) - much cheaper.
Wilkinsons very good for these - allergy tablets only 99p for 7 instead of about £2.49 for branded - same ingredients0 -
I was a diet coke addict - it had to be Diet Coca cola though - no other would do, until I tried the Lidl Freeway diet coke after being recommended it on here. Its 39p a 2 litre bottle but regularly on offer at 19p. You can also buy packs of 6 x 500ml bottles which were 99p last time I bought them (but this was a little while ago)0

Tescos own branded nappies are far better than pampers and Huggies and cheaper. Also Tescos own branded tortilla chips are 19p per bag and far better than the likes of Doritoes which are about 80/90p per bag!0

my son prefers lidl's chocholate muffins, at 85p a pack of 4, much nicer and cheaper than tescos at 1.59 a pack of 40

most somerfield biscuits including basics are made by mc vities0

Does anyone know of any own brand blades that will fit a Mach 3 razor.
Possibly Tesco, if they still do them. I'm using Tesco triple blades on a Gillette Sensor handle. I assumed they were standard, ish. 3 blades, aloe strip, clips on fine, shaves just as close IMO.
Tesco were doing 8-packs of triple blades cheaper than branded 4-packs. Then I spotted some in the local store for 99p "discontinued". Bought all 5 remaining packs... £4.95 for 40 triple blades. No brainer.0 -
Asda's smart price deodorant at 49p is a bargain and very effective and does not mark clothing.
Asda's biological cheapy detergent at £1.59 E3 size keeps my whites fresh and bright (I play lots of tennis)
Asda Smartprice Tortia chips 25p - lovely as is their Smartprice choc.
Lidl - black pepper (50g) 59p!!!!!!SallyD0 -

Definatley agree with the nappies, i would rate them on par with Huggies and say they are much better than Pampers. I don't even shop at Tesco but go just to bulk buy the nappies. :j0 -
Seconded Sainsburys basics toilet roll. (Asda's is like sandpaper..)
My favourite: lidl "Pomme fritte" chips. Less than £1 for a BIG bag.
Um, always buy unbranded Co-codamol instead of branded painkillers especially Migralieve yellow! (The red has something extra in it.)
Oh an a tip: Keep an eye on the Food Standards Agency news and alerts pages. (Bet you never knew there was so much wrong with our food.) However, when a manufacturer does issue a recall it's amazing just how many different brands and own-brand items can be affected, indicating they are all made at the same time on the same line..0 -
Don't know if these have been mentioned before, but...
Tesco Value Spaghetti in sauce - 15p a tin, tastes way nicer than Heinz - Heinz sauces taste horrid now.
Tesco Value Mayonnaise - 42p(ish) per 500g, a million times better than Hellmans (though I do prefer the Tesco own brand, which I think is about 20p more expensive than the Value).
ASDA's own brand vegetarian frozen range is better than any brand name (Quorn, Linda McCartney) I've ever tried. Vege burgers in particular are about £1.89 for 8, better value than Quorn and SO much better tasting!Everyday I am asked to be a magician, in a world where magic does not exist.0
