I agree, I make a baked chocolate cheesecake, and Asda's own makes the creamiest one! Great with any own brand double cream & Mackie's vanilla ice-cream (not the cheapest, but certainly tastes fantastic and has no junk in it!)

    ...Yum!...

ASDA Supersoft triple ply tissues are easily the softest and strongest I have ever used ... and much, much better than the big brands.
ALDI fig biscuits are also REALLY good .... and much cheaper than the market leader. ;)

Having tried many brands of family sized tubs of ice-cream, I have found that Tesco's own brand 'white' ice-cream takes the gold. Unlike most ice-cream that has a yellow colour and tends to be over-sweet and sickly (trying to be cornish); Tesco's white seems a lot lighter in texture and flavour. When used with pies and fruit, it doesn't overpower.

I know that some Tesco stores haven't in the past stocked it, but when I have found it, it was around £1 for a 2 litre tub - not soft scoop though.

HI A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO I WORKED IN AN ICE CREAM FACTORY, ALL THE CHOC ICES WE MADE SUPPLIED MOST OF THE TOP SUPERMARKETS, CHEAP PRICED AND NOT SO CHEAP WERE ALL MADE ON THE SAME LINE, SAME WITH MAGNUMS ETC AND STORES OWN BRAND, BOTH THE SAME, JUST PACKAGED, DIFFERENTLY, HAD TO LEAVE THOUGH, WAS GETTING FAR TOO FAT EATING STAFF SALES TO FIT INTO MY LOVELY BOILERSUIT AND WELLIES, RESEMBLED AN OOMPA LOOMPAH!

All of "Walls" ice cream i.e.Magnum,Cornetto,Feast,Viennetta etc is only made by Walls for Walls, it does not make Cheap copies for the supermarket's .
I should know I work in the only UK factory that makes it in Gloucester.

With branded medications eg: anadin, solpadeine, calpol, nurofen, loperamide, piriton, piriteze, zirtek, loratadine, canesten etc, etc : you are often paying extra for advertising and packaging and brand names.

All chemists -whether supermarkets or your local independant pharmacist will have generic equivalents, which contain exactly the same active ingredient BUT are a fraction of the cost. Ask your pharmacist - I'm sure he'll be happy to help you.

Try alternative moisturisers to E45 - ask for aqueous cream, or emulisfying ointment (if you need soemthing more greasy) - much cheaper.

Definitely agree with DesperateSaver and strawberrymuesli. I actually work for the factory that makes Asda Shades (as well as Velvet) and we are currently running a questionnaire and blind feel test of the differences between our competitors Andrex and Asda Shades. I can tell you that the majority people in the blind feel test think Asda Shades is softer than Andrex and at a very cheap price. Try it yourself...
I second that. I have Crohns disease which means I visit the loo quite alot and in my quest to find the most 'comfortable' loo roll for my tender rear I've found Asda's Shades loo roll is better than any of the top brands ;)

Asda's chocolate ice cream is scrummy too ;)
  • Hi

LIDL luxury muesli at £1.50 (or thereabouts) is definitely THE best muesli I have ever tasted, better than any of the other luxury brands I have tried, especially if you like lots of nuts (whole ones !). Can't remember the weight but it seems to last for ages.....................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
