Does anyone know if there is a generic Maltersers? I have been looking for AGES to no avail......0

Went to Lidl today to try all the good things suggested: spent a fortune but have treats in store - literally.
Recommendations from me, not given above, are Rowan Hill Bakery, Golden Syrup sponge - this lasts a long time even out of the fridge, but only if you don't eat it, obviously.
The peanuts in tins - best I've ever had since Woolworth's stopped selling the hot ones on the sweetie counter, and I don't know how long ago that was.
While you are getting the tin of Expresso coffee, (mentioned above, and recommendation supported), the Lidl coffee filter papers are also excellent value.0 -
Here's my twopenn'orth:
Lidl's Marmite-alike. Tastes just as good as the real deal. Not keen on Tesco's own brand though.
Asda lemon fresh kitchen cleaner. Haven't found anything to clean quite like it.
Tesco Special Flakes (like Special K or the Weetabix ones). I think they're great.
Recently I've been trying Tesco own brand deodorant (_so_ much cheaper than the branded ones). No-one's told me I smell yet....
Any of Lidl's continental lager beers (good if you like something like Stella). Personally I like the Fink'brau.
Also, one more shout for Shades toilet roll.0 -
I totally agree about generic paracetamol etc. in place of branded painkillers, aqueous cream in place of E45, and value tortilla chips in place of Doritos etc. As someone said earlier re. the tortilla chips, you can always add your own flavouring. Worth a try is pepper, paprika, smoked paprika or parmesan - at least then you know more about what's been added (I've found that the bigger brands sometime add the nastier stuff, like MSG). I also think the value one are nicer - thick and crunchier - than some of the big brands.
I'd recommend Asda Smart Price tomato sauce which I prefer to Heinz. It's a more 'grown-up' sauce (you can really taste the tomatoes) and only about 30p for a big bottle. Tesco's Value mushy peas are much nicer than the ones at my local chippy (this may say more about the peas at my local chippy...;) ) but the Asda Smart Price ones aren't as nice as Tesco's.
Thanks for all the replies so far and keep them coming - I'm really enjoying this thread!0 -
:T Totally, totally agree. Sometimes they even have it on special offer for £1 which is when I stock up. Other Lidl recommends are their American walnuts, Maxitrat washing liquid which has 3 different enzymes rather than the 1 or 2 the English detergents have, fruit juices, port, pastrami. I could gone on but the one thing I would warn against is their tampons - terrible!roseanglaise wrote: »Hi
LIDL luxury muesli at £1.50 (or thereabouts) is definitely THE best muesli I have ever tasted, better than any of the other luxury brands I have tried, especially if you like lots of nuts (whole ones !). Can't remember the weight but it seems to last for ages.....................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm0 -
I did post about this elsewhere, so apologies if someone has already posted about it here, but Asda own brand timed air freshener refills (for their battery operated gadget) at £1.50 are half the price of the almost identical Airwick Freshmatic refills - though you might have to swap the spray nozzles over.

Tesco value:
All purpose liquid cleaner
Cream cleaner
Washing up liquid
Brown sauce - I'm addicted to this it is fab
Butter
Flour
Bacon
Orange juice
Tomato juice
Socks
Ipobrufen
Aspirin
Paracetamol
Coco snaps - just like coco pops
Hay fever tabs
Liver and bacon pate
Golden syrup
Honey
Hand wash – awful colour, but kinder on hands than expensive stuff
red kidney beans
I buy mostly value where I can. Some isn't brilliant thought. Many of the great shops we don't have near us, which is a shame.0 -
Although, I do prefer to spend a few pennies more and get the Lidl flour. It is as good in texture as the expensive premium brands.
Never thought I would hear

Because of this post I am going to try both Aldi & Lidl tomorrow, wish me luck
No idea what to expect, I know that sounds sad but the only memory I have is an old smelly man in Aldi who decided to put his cardboard box in the queue instead of himself. He then proceeded to grab a few bits, put them in the box & repeat until he had what he wanted. Everyone else seemed happy enough with this which was the worst point, I thought he was a rude ****** personally. Oh and ofcourse I forgot to bring me bags or get a box so it was all a bit of a mess & it put me off  I'm lucky as within a few mins drive I come up to a little rounabout with three signs (amongst others ofcourse!) Supermarket - a Sainsbury's, ALDI & Lidl all within a 2 mins walk of eachother so I'm going to use all 3!

Does anyone know of any own brand blades that will fit a Mach 3 razor.0
