Hi, Sainsbury's Basic dark chocolate bar is absolutely brilliant. I cant remember how much it costs - about 39p I think, which is really cheap.
I have tasted extremely expensive Belgian dark chocolate, as well as Green and Black's of course, but this basic bar beats the lot! Try it - you wont be sorry....

Tesco's version of Fruit and Fibre is better than Kelloggs.
Also, Princes distribute their orange juice to all the supermarkets, so Tesco Value orange is the same as getting it from Waitrose!!:T0 -
Galpharm make a lot of the own brands, surprisingly those packed for Tesco are cheaper than their own packaging in Superdrug by 2p (not a vast amount) and are as good as the leading brand.0

If you are a fish lover, go to Aldi. Their frozen Salmon Steaks are excellent at only £1.99 for 250g and the Lemon Sole is fantastic and only £1.79 for 250g. If you are after ice cream you must go to Lidl, who sell Magnum type ice creams, £1.79 for 6 and in my family's opinion, they are superior to Walls any day. :j In fact all their ice cream is too good for a fatty like me!:cool:0

I would shout from the roof tops about these!!!
Aldi "Del Rivo" fresh orange juice is the best ever - better than the man who says yes and the tropicana ones- won't buy anything else now
- 100 % orange juice not from concentrate
- its in the chilled department 1lt for 79p or 1.5lt1 for £1.04 - (I think, but don't quote me on it.
Aldi popcorn 79p - for a massive bag (salt, sweet and maple flavours)
also Lidl - 3 strawberry trifles - 99p - lots of everything cream, custard etc yummy better than most
Asda fig rolls 40 odd pennies cheap than the original
still trying out Aldi and Lidl range - but would love to know of any recommendations
I have shopped in Aldi and Lidl for years and am constantly amazed at the low prices. But I wouldnt shop there if it they were 'cheap and nasty'. The quality is brilliant and I would recommend all their products. (see my previous post) Plus it doesn't take all day to walk round the stores as they aren't too big. (Some of us don't want to spend our free time in a shop!). They have 'specials' too, like photo paper, at a fraction of the normal price and just as good. Think of it this way - would the Germans settle for second best?:cool:0 -
Tesco value ginger nuts are really nice, far better than McVities, and only 25p a packet.
D.
This is so true.
The other great thing about some of the value branded items is that for some reason some of them don't contain as many additives etc at the branded ones. Not true in EVERY case but I really like the Tesco Value Chopped Tomatoes for this compared to some of the branded ones.
So don't be afraid to have a look at some of these and check out the salt, sugar etc levels and the additives. Plus they're cheaper! Bonus!
:TAll things change in a dynamic environment. Your effort to remain what you are is what limits you...0 -
Lidl Grapefruit juice is probably the best I've tasted.....Ruby 380

If you've been watching the music festivals on telly, you'll have seen the brilliant American band, Interpol. They are not to be confused with the Tesco Value band, Editors, who are p**h.
I recommend you Turn on the Bright Lights and don't Stand Outside Hospital Doors.

Who really needs the posh "power/quantum/ball etc." nonsense anyway?
The tesco value dishwasher tabs look just like all good old plain ones used to before they started poshing them up. They cost £1.79 for 30 = 6p each and do the job well, compared to £3.48 for 12 Finish powerballquantum = 29p each.
With the 'plain' ones you still need to add salt and rinse aid (buy own-brand here too), but you don't apparently with the others. However, in my experience lots of people still actually still add the salt and rinse aid anyway - wasting even more money.
Don't forget, if you have a water softener you won't need to add salt to your dishwasher anyway. For everyone else, check with your waterboard website to find out what setting you need for water hardness so that you don't waste salt and rinse aid by having them set too high.0 -
The Morrison's best buy Passata is really nice and only about 34p for one of those big jars.0
