Hello June Bugs...
I am leaving work in precisely 45 minutes. I have an appt with the mechanic to get my brakes checked - £70 put aside for this so would love it if I came in under this guestimate. I am only getting front brakes done so hopefully they won't try and push the rear ones on me too..
Also an appointment with a personal trainer tonight at 1900 - so I have to get home, get my bits and bobs packed, get to the mechanic and then hit the gym straight after. You can never guess how long bike stuff will take and that guy loves to talk! Ugh!
Another early morning start tomorrow so hopefully I will have some down time in front of the TV tonight ....

I see it helps other people not to overspend but for me it's just not very practical.
But the whole idea of the SFD is to make you think ahead. If you plan ahead for what you need as opposed to what you think you need you save more days of not - spending.
What was the last bargain you couldn't resist?“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Hey magic cat. I am so sorry to hear about your "break-in that wasn't a break-in" but I am really pleased you managed to get your necklace back.
I must admit, I would have changed the locks as well. Better to be safe than sorry.
Hugs.
Today is a spend-free day. Number 15... as we have no money left to spend.

What was the last bargain you couldn't resist?
Last impulsive buy was meat for a half price. Cut it into pieces and froze it. Sometimes I find reduced items that I would buy anyway, don't think that's a waist at all.
I used to be a vegetarian/vegan and now I am introducing meat into my menu, which is more expensive then I thought...hence going over budget.0 -
Happy hopping June bugs.
Having a good day. Temporary setback but will be back on course so staying positive.
Went through morning routine - chose to do modified squats from my extensive exercise repertoire (holding on to the landing rail). Just went up and down at first till I could feel (hear:eek:) the synovial fluid beginning to circulate round my creaky knees, then did a few more holding for a count of ten.
Seemed to be lots of hot water so did the washing up (had to go back and top up sun cream) and made up a sandwich before setting off to meet the health trainer. Was ten minutes early so read my book and did leg lifts. Amazingly I seem to have lost another 2lb and another 4cm off my waist this month- really thought I had put on. Still not under 14st though - my health trainer wouldn't lie, would he (figures don't add up). Ate my lunch (another dinner time appointment) before setting off home.
CC bill had arrived so went through receipts - this is the one with the 6 months water rates on. A charity collection bag (genuine one) had also been put through so have decided I really don't need to keep wearing my brother's jumper as a security blanket and filled a whole bag - finally got rid of the blazer and tie cos-play outfit DS3 has been supposed to be taking to see if any of his friends wants it. If I can't sort my finances out before the cold weather comes I will either freeze or have to stay in the house (lots of non-matching night clothes. Only have one sweatshirt now. Sorted through seeds and put a small leaflet/mag pile together.
Went to bins and nice neighbour has offered me some plants (she has a f-t job and two small children so cutting back on garden). She helped me dig a hole and we have put in a large clump of red-hot poker (not one of my favourites but it's free, colourful and fills a gap) but will dig up more plants later in the week. Came back in and did a fridge clean (sitting down job) and put a meal together from some bits.
Time for a rest and a drink - fell asleep again. It had rained when I woke up so postponed more garden work and tackled paperwork. Renewed all but one library book on-line to save time on Friday - will look at the one it wouldn't let me renew to see if I can read it over the weekend.
Spent time sorting out a United Utilities on-line account so that I can re-set the dd for the second half of the year. Cue half an hour playing with the password till it thought it was strong enough, then taking out all the characters it didn't like, then waiting for the confirmation e-mail. Went back to set up the dd and it is offering me a choice of dates to pay - nearly any date next month will suit them. I asked when I phoned them last month if I needed to pay for the whole year.
So calming down by playing silly games and coming on here before going to phone them and see if there is another way. If no dd will pay on cc and transfer balance asap - water rates alone are nearly £470 and I am not having it sat on a 22.48% card (DS2's prescription charges and a few other bits on). Not ideal but no chance of paying it within the next month so 4.9% is better. Second half of dd shouldn't be due till December.
Still, keeping positive and I didn't spend any money - I like the NSDs as I think avoiding the shops at all costs is the only way to go.My mission in life is not only to survive,but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Lovely phone lady gave me until 1st October to pay second half of water rates - could have had it monthly but thought no leave the monthly dds as they are. So 3 months to juggle and shuffle and sell - pity the boys aren't worth anything. She did offer more help and I can get back in touch but quite happy with that.My mission in life is not only to survive,but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0

Evening all,
Not a SFD today as I bought all manner of junks food. I also skipped my exercise class too. However, my excuse is that I have been working an average of 12 hours over the last 9 days and I think I've hit the wall of tiredness.
I'm going to try and have a quiet day tomorrow.
Very excited that it is payday tomorrow tooLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: - WHY???
As an avid vegan and staunch believer in plant power why on earth are you introducing meat into your diet..? Never mind the spends I need to know the answer to this...........“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Morning June Bugs...
Infuriating visit to my mechanic yesterday and I was too angry to post anything due to possible expletive filled rants. I went to have my brakes checked and possible changed - they changed them without checking if it was really needed. I was told by the mechanic it wasn't needed - he even gave me back my old brake pads for "next time" - the manager who took my call and booked me in did not pass on the message - he simply told the mechanic ( who in my book is at fault in a way but not as much as the manager ) to just change them.
The damage = £97.40 :mad::mad::mad:
I had budgeted £70 - so I am over by 27.40 without needing to be AT ALL. I was too shocked to actually fight it while I was there, the manager had conveniently disappeared and the poor mechanic had to take my flack - he even told me he would deduct the full amount from my next visit - but I don't think I would need another visit between now and when I sell it in a few months. I won't even need new tyres before then - I AM FUMING!
I called him back twice last night for an explanation - he wasn't there - so spoke to the mechanic who told me he will be happy to tell him just how annoyed I was and get him to call me. Although I promised to call back if I didn't get a timely responce - I am not sure what to ask for though - half refund considering I left with brand new brakes..?
I eventually want this firm to buy my bike from me so can't rub them up the wrong way just yet. The mechanic told me to call him directly in future as a check-up on my brakes would have been free. :mad::mad::mad:
My CC now stands at £197 with the transfer of the £70 and another £35.50 from my birthday money to cover the first month I paid at the gym.
This means only £1400 will go to the travel funds on Monday instead of £1600.
I'm off to consolidate my spreadsheet, plan a bit more, and cry into my porridge a little...
Hope everyone else is having a good start to the day!!!
