How can I ration toilet roll??

She has such tiny hands and it looked like a huge amount so yes, I counted......in my head. I didn't make a big deal of it, just made a mental note of how many bits she had. Why is that weird? I was un-scrunching it to put it back and did a quick count at the same time.
Got to say some of the replies have made me laugh, the last thing I want to think about is skid marks :rotfl:0 -
Don't know how old she is but is it possible that her visits coincide with TOTM? Also you could try getting some wet wipes as this helps clean more efficiently and therefore use less dry paper. Maybe buy the wet wipes tell her than you have bought them to stop the family needing to use large quantities of dry paper as that has been blocking the loo.
If she is just a young child though I'd have no problem with showing her the correct way to wipe and how much paper to use.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
Wet wipes are bad for the drains as they don't disintigrate if they get caught.0

If she's only 5 what is the issue? Surely you are able to give her instructions/advice if she is not doing anything correctly. Some kids may even still have their bottom wiped at that age. I wouldn't expect her to have mastered it yet anyway.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

I don't see what's wrong with a little word with her as it's obviously not something she'll stop doing on her own.
There are the two of us here and 4 rolls will last over a month easily. Men rarely use any is why! :eek:Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Toilet roll usage should never be commented on! Everyone has different required amounts and insisting they cut down could cause a health hazard. Surely there are limits to money saving.
Young kids always use loads of loo roll because they're still learning to do the job right. I would prefer they used as much as they want so that they are properly clean.
OP, I alone use two a week so you're already very thrifty with it. If you're that hard up, maybe bulk buy when you see bargains or economise on something else but don't create toilet anxiety for the child.0 -

The way I read Sue's post though was that she meant other stuff apart from the usual! Sorry if I read that wrong.
But yes, 'the usual' can get stuck in the bend too ...PS If worrying about blocking loo, just tell her to flush after putting several bits of paper down the loo, then flush again when finished. I'd rather that than someone tell me I'm using too much (for them, not for me!).
And buying a large plunger ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
when my children were at school in reception year parents were asked to teach our children how much toilet roll they should be using. At that age most things need to be taught, and children are receptive and want to do what's right.
That's what I did, explained/showed how much was need for a wee/poo. Perfectly normal part of teaching a kid how to go about the world!DF as at 30/12/16
