I think the OP should ask the 5 year old little girl's own Mum to send her to visit with sufficient toilet roll for her visit so that there is no inconvenience in buying a few extra rolls for the OP. Or buy the 5 year old little girl a bumper pack of loo rolls for Christmas to be used throughout the year. Any blockages caused by excessive usage could be paid for out of 5 year old little girl's pocket money.
Really? She's a five year old little girl away from her Mum.

Oh deary me.
Why not just let the girl shove the whole roll down the toilet in one go, while she's at it she may as well pour all the milk down the sink and all the cereal in the bin, we wouldn't want to upset the poor little mite by telling her that it's not acceptable while she's away from her mummy.
A grip on the reality of paying hundreds to a plumber to unblock a toilet has clearly passed you and your perfect children by.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

What I was trying to say was that, if it was me, I would be a bit more generous with my toilet roll stock and my expectations of a small child. Just my view. I'll leave it at that.

im quite lucky my 2 year old seems to only grab a tiny amount (at the moment, i dont doubt itll be rolls of it as she gets bigger!)
how about using an old tissue box and ripping a few bits off the roll and putting it in the box, i doubt she would pull as many out of the box as she would off the roll? i know it maybe a bit time consuming but itll save the hassle.
i do also agree that its a conversation that needs to be had but wether your OH/you want to have it or mention it to her mum is upto you. it maybe that her mum has had the chat with her but because its not been mentioned at yours she doesnt realise? as there are variables between houses (well there are between my house and DD1's dads house)0 -
I think you are making too much of a big deal out if it. A simple comment about it is all that's needed. Tbh I don't keep track of how often we buy and use toilet roll but if blockages were involved I would say something. It's a parents job to teach the children things and that includes not using so much loo roll it blocks itHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Wow! That escalated quickly!0 -
Has anyone suggested getting one of those big round toilet paper dispensers that seem to be popular in workplaces? After she has torn off one piece, the end will disappear into the dispenser and probably take five minutes to retrieve. She'll soon get bored and make do with what she has got.0

My God, take the plumbers costs out of a five year old's pocket money?! :rotfl: What next? Charging her for wear and tear on her clothes and shoes, and petrol money to run her around?
Re; the toilet roll, I see no harm in 'requesting' that she uses less if it's becoming an issue and getting to the verge of blocking the loo. And I also wonder; what has her 'being away from her mum' got to do with the price of fish?(•_•)

I think she was joking....at least I hope so anyhow!
OP, surely a quick word with her (off you or her Dad) saying not to use as much toilet paper is all that is needed? Although, like previous posters have said, that amount of paper is not going to block the toilet, and also, 'rationing' is a strange word to use....why don't you go the whole hog and cut up a newspaper and put it on a string!0 -

OP did state in post 1 that a blocked toilet did occur to DSD's usage recently.0
