Supermarket own brand when she's about.
Posh triple-embossed soft velvety stuff for your botty when she's not about.0 -
'Rationing' is a loaded word.
But whatever happened to 'waste not want not'? I thought this was a money saving site!!!
I love my DGD to bits, but I still let her know I'm not best pleased if she asks for juice then doesn't drink it, or takes an apple, has a bite, then leave it, or uses a yard of loo roll when a few sheets would do. I'd always just assumed that all of this (and more) was part of 'bringing them up'. And I wouldn't be doing my daughter any favours if I let her waste things at my house that they can't afford to waste at her house. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
"It amazes me how much some people flush away, setting your routine so ones daily poo can be dealt in ones morning shower makes a huge difference"
What on earth?!? Poo 'in' the shower!!! Please tell me you're joking *barf*:rotfl:

Four rolls a week is never gonna block the toilet0

Do you perhaps use "posher, softer" toilet paper than she is used to so she erm maybe likes the feel of it on her bahookie so uses more.
I have a friend who has girls and is separated from her kids dad and they comment on the difference on the toilet paper in the two houses. Dad buys value stuff, my friend uses the Nicky Toilet Roll from Farmfoods / Homebargains and although cheap at around £2 for 9 rolls it's softer and thicker than the value stuff at their dads house.
Girls also generally go through a bit more and softer toilet roll is kinder on their bits and pieces for obvious reasons and as she is still young and learning is it really worth going overboard?0 -
My husband is proud of the fact that he hasn't bought loo roll in over 20 years
The first thing he does when entering a hotel room is to go into the bathroom and remove the 'spare' roll. Once I spent several minutes bouncing up and down on my suitcase on the final day of our holiday as my case was overflowing with stuff we had bought. Got home to find that his was also stuffed full - of rolls of toilet paper!
Now he has to deal with a manic toddler who likes to turn toilet roll into a 20 foot long cape so that she looks like Elsa from the Disney film Frozen :rotfl:0 -

Ok. I think the OP should ask the 5 year old little girl's own Mum to send her to visit with sufficient toilet roll for her visit so that there is no inconvenience in buying a few extra rolls for the OP. Or buy the 5 year old little girl a bumper pack of loo rolls for Christmas to be used throughout the year. Any blockages caused by excessive usage could be paid for out of 5 year old little girl's pocket money.
Really? She's a five year old little girl away from her Mum.

One question is whether she does this at home as well? It could well be worth addressing this 'together' as if it's not a problem when she's with her mum, why is it a problem at Dad's?
Totally agree that blocked loos are a real PITA, and I had one son who would regularly use half a roll. If you DO need a lot, then a mid-wipe flush may help.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Arnold Rimmer uses three pieces: "One up, one down, and one to polish". That phrase has been stuck in my mind ever since.
Failing that, you could make the switch from toilet paper to the three seashells?Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -

Oh for goodness sake! The child is at her father's house. Children can function away from their mothers, although you wouldn't believe it sometimes from this board.
If the child is using far too much toilet roll, then it is entirely appropriate for this to be pointed out to her. Children do use a lot if they can get away with it, I know because I did it myself as a child, but should, once told, stop doing so.0
