  • I keep full rolls out of reach of my 5 yo GD ...I leave almost finished rolls out for her use... This limits her usage! Children learn by experience!

When I was at school my biology teacher told us that poo germs can travel through up to 10 layers of toilet paper

And that's why we wash our hands....

My parents sat me down as an, I think 10-11yr old, to re-teach me about bog roll. I had managed to block our drains twice in a week and eventually worked out it was me using FAR too much paper.

I was mortified at the time, but glad in hindsight as i'm sure it's saved me alot of money in paper purchases and not having to unblock drains in my adult life. Pass it on!

Also, these baby-wipe style things are a menace. They clog drains up quicker than......I don't know what.
  • Hi. Use wet wipes (the loo type that are biodegradeable) 75p from wilkinsons, but they are all over the place now. for small kids show them how to use them, 1 at a time and off they go. My lad has been using them for 2 yrs now. 1 wipe 1 small amount of loo roll to dry..:money:

4 Rolls a month! Good Lord!! We use about 4 a week, and there is only two of us.
I suggest you talk to the child as your OH won't,and explain to her that using too much blocks the toilet and that won't be very nice for anyone. She is certainly ol enough to understand that. I suggest tearing off sections of maybe 4 sheets, leaving them draped over the roll so she can get them. I agree with other posters it is difficult for youngsters to tear off neatly. I sometimes have trouble with the perforations myself!
Cheaper loo roll is often just as good as the fancy stuff.

I think its a laaaydee thing, my ex asked to use the toilet while I was in the bath and I witnessed her wrap her hand three times to form a kind of gauntlet after going for a wee, my jaw dropped at that.

  • Hi
When our little one was learning to use the loo we bought the paper with puppies stamped on or other decoration. Made a big thing of shopping for it and it being special for them. Taught them to use it as necessary. It worked for us as we never had a blocked loo and didn't end up buying rolls and rolls of the stuff. With little ones you have to keep trying til you get a method that works for them!

Just buy what you think you should ideally use and politely say .... that's all we've got left.
Guests can be challenging but at least a couple of loo rolls cannot break the bank.
My uncle used to visit my parents twice a year.He was a fussy eater so it cost mum a fortune for food and he used Dads car and never replaced petrol.
He left over £1 million in his will so Mum and Dad got at least a years worth of food /petrol.
Maybe go out for lunch as many guests do treat ....2-3 loo rolls hardly worth the stress ?

The roll I started Monday 2nd is not finished yet so my 4 rolls a month is easily achievable here.

Use both sides! Ha Ha. But seriously, some folk need more thaan others. I suffer from piles and when you go to the loo, you use the TP and everythings ok, then half an hour later, you get the itching, and you have to wipe again, and this can go on three or four times. I have tried the moist tissues but it didn't help. Just a thought.

Definitely not limited to girlies! My OH once used half a roll for one poo!!! He has to buy the loo roll now, and weirdly enough the usage has reduced by 20x....
