Why is it so bloody hard to buy a birthday present for your mum?

M&S vouchers
take her out for dinner
plant for the garden or bird bath
NT membership or English Heriitage
Towels/dressing gown and buble bathThe secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
If she likes hiking £250 would be a decent amount for a voucher with someone like hotels.com for a weekend awayI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Perhaps because you think of her as a mum, not as a person?
I'm a mum, and I like theatre tickets, good olive oil and antipasti, books, plants, and geeky bits and pieces (raspberry pi last birthday).
I don't like smellies or absolutely anything pink and/or floral. Rather like your mum, I suspect.
Think of her as you would a friend who has the same interests, and you won't go far wrong.import this0 -

Whereabouts in the UK does she live?
Only you know your Mum!
Personally I would absolutely hate all of Chocaholic's suggestions.0 -

£250 but i'll pay more if people think that is stingy.
Ok, that's a bit more info to play with!
Few ideas:
A nice leather work bag, something neutral/classic if you don't really know her tastes.
Painting: a set of professional brushes, a nice easel, with a couple of canvases...
Hiking: a gift voucher for a hiking store, so she can get herself a new pair of boots? A weekend stay in a hotel with lots of hiking spots nearby?
If she likes reading, a Kindle Paperwhite?0 -
