If you've not guessed already i'm male and shopping is one of my pet peeves  i can never find a decent present when it comes to shopping for a woman. Its my mums bday on wednesday and i've still not bought anything. I get like this at christmas as well and for the last few years i just got her a posh candle. She now makes a joke of it and has already thanked me for the candle she is going to get for her bday.
Can someone think of something better? She doesn't like perfume and tat like that.

What does she like? Any hobbies? Does she work? Does she wear make up? Do you know her size?0

may i suggest Notonthehighstreet.com? they do a variety of presents, across a range of budgets. You may be a bit stumped on shipping times now, but great for inspirationChange is inevitable...nothing stays the same forever

Spa day or half day? Champagne afternoon tea? Wine tasting course? Off road driving/quad biking session?
I have enough "things"* and love these kinds of presents. Alternatively - jewellery? Exceptionally nice bath set?
*Always have room for more quality candles though! Obviously a different view on quality from OP. By quality I mean Sainsbury's not Glade! £150?? Well jell!0 -
I buy my mum some flower bulbs or herb seeds from a pound shop and a bar or two of posh chocolate most birthday's or mother's day and she always thanks me, despite getting me getting change out of a fiver, including the card.
Sometimes I'll buy a posh scarf, like Boden or Whitestuff, usually second hand from ebay, which I'll wrap in tissue paper.0 -

How old is your mum. If it helps I'd like a spa day, massage voucher, a lovely bunch of flowers (not supermarket) or afternoon tea voucher.
Whereabouts in the UK does she live?Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
firstly...calm down! Its not the end of the world.
If you are unsure what to get her, give her money or a voucher so she can purchase something she wants .
Buying for others is hard but I know personally, I would appreciate money and would not want my son to spend money on something that may be wasted.
Take her out for a meal or even treat her to a spa day or some nice treatment! Women like to be pampered!
Good luck0 -

I thought you just usually buy her a candle. To jump from a candle to £250 :eek:Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
