Decided to make some coleslaw to go with pork schnitzels I'm making for dinner tonight so had to go out and buy some cabbage and carrots! Still wasn't too bad it came to £1.17 and I've made a huge amount which will probably last all week, LOL!
Have updated signature and have spent £62.50/£250.

Hi all,
Budgets list updated to here
Welcome/welcome back to:
gerturdeanna, gyinnit, shiningfaery and cuddlymarm
Good luck all.
Had a l-o-o-o-n-g day out yesterday at our local pinetum. Took a picnic/snacks so only spent out on a couple of ice-creams and some late afternoon drinks once our supply had gone! Took ages to get home though, so a quick chicken curry (jar from Aldi) for tea.
Will probably do mince and pasta bake for tea tonight.
Have a good day all.

Hello everyone! I have been AWOL as well but need to get my spending under control. I am moving house soon, and the new mortgage is a good £250 more per month than I am spending now. I'll also have additional transport costs as I'm moving further away from work. Thankfully, I've recently had a payrise which should cover it, but it will mean being more careful than I currently am.
To that end, I'm setting myself a budget of £150. I know that's by no means a small budget for one person, but I eat organic wherever possible, and that's not something I'm willing to sacrifice unless I absolutely have to.
Good luck everyone!Novuna personal finance 0% 4-year £518/£1866Credit card debt free! Now on the journey to mortgage free.0 -

Hi everyone and a warm welcome to all new peoples and returners :hello:
Flat Eric - I just use the calculator on my mobile. Put in price of first item and divide by number of gms/mls whatever and then multiply this figure by number of gms/mls in second item and then see if cheaper/dearer than first item. With the apples - look at price of one, find a pack of say four and compare.Mimi_Arc_en_ciel wrote: »Do you count pet food in your "grocery" challenge?shiningfaery wrote: »Hello everyone did you all miss me??I am - I'm including all general household stuff too, like bin bags, toothpaste and cleaning products. If I didn't my target would probably be half what it is!
Finished July on £170.86/200 so £29.24 UNDER :j . I am really pleased with that as I only reduced to this a couple of months ago.
Someone asked about how I run my Bulk Fund and this is where I will now add my £29.24 so it will be up to £96.44. I will now continue like this each month up to C....:shhh: . I use it to bulk buy things like baked beans when on offer, my meat which I buy at the butcher every couple of months and then C. After C. if there is more than £100 I put the overs into savings (not often happens but did last year)
I am now on a REDUCE THE FREEZERS mission, so I can get them emptied one at a time, defrosted, cleaned and sorted. On holiday beginning of September so then it will be time to start building up supplies of soup, stews and casseroles for the winter months. If you see me slipping then a kick up the derriere please.
Hope you all have a super Saturday (I need to shop)

Eeek first day and went a bit mad...spent a fortune, well for me anyway...£17.75 that's more than half of the months budget. That does include a bottle of wine and 3 bags of sugar for jam making...all these blackberries I've been collecting.
Still awaiting a £10 Sainsbugs card from Toluna...they're quite late in sending that.GC - Oct £36.17/£31
GC - Sep £35.56/£30:o
GC - Aug £30.73/£31

I've been thinking - my monthly budget of £300 is pretty high. I think I could spend a lot less than that. Saying that, both of my children's birthdays are in August, so we'll see how it actually turns out...
I did my first weekly shop at Mr M's last night. I used the Sun voucher and bought more meat than I usually would (that's gone into the freezer) so I did feel that I spent more than I usually would. The total spend last night was £48.62. We're not in for a few days next week so I think that next weeks will be lower (although I do want to spend £40 so I can get the Mr M's £15 off vouchers at the end of the five weeks).

I'm lonely on the july thread so thought I'd come and state my intentions over here for August :rotfl: I still have until the 5th in Julys challenge but as of the 6th of August I'm declaring a budget of £400 for the month. I've just stocked up on washing powder and have quite a lot of meat in the freezer, and hopefully a little more time at home this month to do some batch cooking so have reduced this months by £50..... Let the challenge commence!! :j0

Popping in to say hi, and so far I have spent £19.25 in A!di this month. Got the vchr for Morrys so Im just about to go there to see what I can get. Don't normally shop there though. Need dog biscuits and milk and that's it. Also going to the library to order a couple of books that are not kindle friendly but I refuse to buy them and spend "real money"! Hopefully low spends today!
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0
