Double grr right enough - dead annoying that. I don't know how they can justify £1.29 for BP and Bicarb, its as cheap as chips to produce. Dr Oetiker gets on my nerves as its so dear!

I am on another rant this morning too - why are OH's so annoying when it comes to food? I am talking about Lurpak butter here. I normally buy full fat for OH and lightest for me. In a bid to save money we agreesd to compromise, so I bought 1kg of the "middle" fat one to do us both. Not even a week into the new tub, OH announces that he hates it and "can really tell the difference" so would I please get a tub of his usual stuff! I hardly eat butter so I have piles of the stuff now! Treble grr for me now!

"Of course, dear! I'm not so keen on it myself, but it was worth a try. As soon as it's finished, we'll go back to the others."

Or is that just me being facetious?!!! ;) x

I'm going to have to revisit meal plans (and grocery budgets) for the next couple of months as I can't open tins, handle heavy pans, lift things out of the oven or wash pots :o

Came up to the Lakes on Sunday for 13 days walking with full backpack as training for my Camino in September (thankfully staying in a cottage rather than camping) . But on Monday I lost my footing, and managed to break my right hand/wrist quite badly. 2 hospital visits so far (80 mile round trip from where I'm staying, but fortunately stayed overnight locally between them as a friend from school days lives in that area :)) and another today. But I'm likely to be in plaster right up to my intended departure date, and there's still a chance they may need to operate to put a pin in :o

Have a few spends to add to my signature, including a totally unplanned £3 meal deal from Mr T yesterday - out of hospital at 12:20pm but couldn't get anyone to pick me up until almost 6pm, so I had to find something to eat!!
    hope you get better soon.

Another NSD for me. I made my first Indian flat breads today to go with prawn curry and HM mango chutney.
I was sorely tempted by 2 x 2p coins I spotted on the floor at the re-cycling centre this morning...:rotfl:(any money found is added to my £1 a day food budget) but the bloke who helped me out with my stuff spotted them as well and said Oh they can go in the pot and nabbed them :o

My total is still at £15.24 for the month, with one shopping day and 8 nsds! Will be shopping on Saturday, and not before. Going to a church BBQ, and have been asked to take carrot and cucumber sticks. Pretty good swap, if you ask me!!!

Today we had spag bol, using frozen mince. I haven't used that since uni, but dd actually prefers the texture!! Used up a bit of this n that from the fridge too. Thurs I'm not feeding them, and I'll only have a bit of toast or something, as doing a 13/14 hour shift. Friday dd has requested sausage mash and beans. Oh alright then! Takes me to sat for the BBQ, then onto meal planning for next week! Sitting down tonight to plan shopping list and menus as no energy for other housework today!!

    Night all,

Oh Gosh - I'm really sorry and hope you not in too much pain. I know from your posts you are quite resilient and I remember when I fell and broke a bone in my hand and was in plaster for 8 weeks that you do find ways round things.
    • Have a look in charity shops etc for an electric can opener for starters.
    • Heavy pans - use a mug to load/unload a large pot into a jug (has handle so can carry)
    • For the oven you can lift light trays with a towel over plaster and oven mitt over other hand. Do you have slow cooker for casseroles etc or borrow one (or buy one as always useful) ?? Use mug again.
    • Wet stuff - make a 'dry wrapper' using some bin liners and elastic bands.
Good luck and hth and it's sorted in time for your trip :)
My meal plan for this week is fairly boring - I can't be bothered to make an effort when I'm just cooking for me. Although saying that I do fancy making a cake, but am worried I would then eat it all and get fat....

Make it anyway. As soon as it's cool slice it and freeze in separate slices, keeping a couple for next few days ;)

Managed another NSD - didn't go near shops :rotfl:

Had LO AGCJ bubbles and squeaks with Hm mushrooms/shallots/garlic and cream served with salad and grated reggiano for lunch. For 'afters' had banana with strawberries and HM yoghurt :D Took feta cheese and dates sandwich to work with a pear and some nuts this evening.

Hope you all have a thrifty Thursday

Ha, I'm another one that's not a fan of "just water"! Even just with a slice of lemon is so much nicer (the slices can be frozen and then serve a double purpose as an ice cube as well!)

Luckily the tap water in work tastes okay, have to filter it and chill it at home before I'll drink it. NSD achieved.
