Just need to decide where to switch the M&S accounts to now
Did you switch an account in your sole name and get a gift card too?0 -
My OH opened an account online via Martin's link for the £125 gift card on Tuesday 28th, completed the application and it said they would be sending an email to say if he was accepted within 48 hours.
As he'd heard nothing he phoned them yesterday and they couldn't trace anything on the system and suggested he apply again online which he did yesterday.
He's slightly concerned as everyone else seems to have received the acceptance email very shortly afterwards and the offer expires today.0 -

One of the terms of the £125 was you had to apply and open an account. The process of opening is not complete until you have returned the signed paper work to them, the paper work is sent a couple of days after the email is sent.
So you may only get the £100 bonus.0 -
This will be the first time I have done a switch, I have just set up my donor account and funded it with a small amount of money ready to switch.
From the T&Cs it doesn't look like M&S need DD to be set up on the account you are switching, but does it need to have a certain level of funding or open for a certain length of time (I was going to wait until I had all the paperwork through for the account anyway)?0 -

The account you are switching doesn't need a minimum level of funding, as long it has a positive balancenor does it need to have been open for any length of time.
When you say you're waiting for the paperwork, do you mean for the account you are switching? If so, please do wait. There have been posts recently about some banks cancelling new accounts shortly after they were opened.0 -
My giftcard came today in a little red envelope.0

Thanks, I did mean I will wait for the paper work from the donor account. It is showing on the internet banking - I just need the pieces of official looking paper!0 -

This is not true. My wife only applied a couple of days ago and ended ringing them to confirm the rules. She has been told she will get it because she applied before today.0 -
I've found this whole thing more hassle than I thought. I already had an unused current acc with a few ponds, so opened the M&S account with the intention of switching. I applied mid-Oct (would have to check the date). Finally got all the stuff through today, rang up to arrange the switch, but after sitting on hold for 15 mins found there is noone from the switching team available, and they will call me on Friday. They also said the switch would take 20 mins on the phone!
I switched another account to Santander 123 a month ago - there was no 20 min phone call required.
I hope after all this I actually get my gift card, but it has certainly put me off using M&S bank for real. They are slow to write to me, slow to pick up the phone, and slow to respond to requests!0 -

I did use the word 'may'
I was stating the terms & conditions word for word. How M&S use those terms I'm not sure.
Going through the process myself and I only returned the signed letter Thursday. So would prefer the £125 voucher.0
