My switch completed on September 22nd and still no gift card... I know it's only been 28 days but it's getting close!!
  • Can I ask...does the Current account you are switching to M&S have to have any existing DDs ,SOs ?....or can you just switch any Current account with no out-goings to M&S and it still qualify for the Gift card ?

    What do the T&C say?

It doesn't have to have any dd's or standing orders set up on it.

As long as the T&Cs say so at the time the application is made.
  • Thanks all....I assume the switching takes place after the account is open ? And you have to contact M&S for them to switch

I have applied but just had a doubt about the DDs and SOs and the wondered why no switching ques on the first app form..

The poster is doing it now. The terms and conditions, as I read them, do not make mention of having to transfer DD mandates or Standing Orders. Therefore, the simple answer to the poster is "No".

Yes, the account with M&S must be opened first.

When you get the M&S account number details and the bits and bobs needed to log on to your account you can then telephone them and start the switch process. They will send you some switching paperwork through the post and you need to read that and keep it. Nothing to sign or return. However, after you've read whatever they send in the post you then telephone them to say that you agree with what's been sent and that you are happy to proceed with the switch. Job done.

About a month after the switch has happened you should receive the gift voucher.

It never does any harm to simply point people at the T&Cs, as it the T&Cs that they have to accept, and that govern their application / account / switching. If people can read the MSE forum, they can read T&Cs - even if they need need a bit of a push at times.

And of course, T&Cs have the advantage that they are complete and correct (unlike some of us who at times get confused over whether DDs are needed or not, aren't we ;))
