Free M&S current account - £100 in M&S vouchers if you switch

I keep trying to apply for the M&S account but I cannot get the link to work! I have tried via MSE and MoneySuperMarket and both on the home computer and the work computer - I can fill in the fields for the gift card but then when I click on "APPLY" nothing happens. OH who is a lot more techy than me had a look but couldn't see why it would not work either.

Has anyone else had a problem? Can anyone please suggest anything I can do to make it work?

Had my switching papers yesterday and gave them a ring today (via saynoto0870).

Switching team are great but when he was going through the T&C he said I will get a £100 voucher. I stopped him and said I applied the MSE link and he said he would change it on their records. So beware they may put you down for the £100 instead of £125.

What MSE link was that? I may have to suggest I did that too!

If I open an additional account with my current bank (FD) then I can switch that account to M&S and it won't affect anything at FD other than that one account (which will just be closed)? FD will leave all my other accounts and services alone?

Yes that's correct, only the account you instruct to be switched will be closed, all the others will remain open.

I'm away from home at the moment but know that my gift card for switching has arrived.

Will the gift card work right out of the envelope or do I need to activate or anything of the sort first? Also is the gift card linked to the status of account at all- e.g if I closed/transferred the account would the gift card cease to work?

Guessing the gift card is straight forward as you'd expect but thought I'd double check before I transfer my M&S account to Halifax to get the switching bonus.

It's good to go straight out of the envelope. It's exactly the same as gift card you could buy in M&S, it's valid for two years after the last transaction was made.

Hi there. I just applied for M&S current account on late Wednesday and yesterday evening i received this email from M&S:

Dear xkpa,

Thank you for applying for one of our M&S current accounts.

Please call us on 0800 756 7777, so that we can discuss your application in further detail. We’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please do not reply to this email address as it is not monitored for incoming emails.

I called the number and the lady on the phone just wanted to confirm my address details. Then she said that will forward it to the decisions department and I should expect email from them.

What do you think, is it regular procedure with M&S when you open new current account? What do you think are my acceptance chances? Thank you

I don't think it's standard, my application went through without any confirmation call a couple of weeks ago. Fingers crossed for you though, hopefully you'll hear soon.

If you receive a gift card for switching in relation to a joint account, can either account holder subsequently receive a gift card in relation to a sole account? I read the T&Cs as no to both account holders if you switch into a joint account but yes if each switch into their own sole account without switching into a joint account...
