My experience with M&S Bank has actually be quite swift so far... I applied on the 10th of June, I received card, welcome pack and pin within 7 days and now I have a switch date for the 1st of July. Hopefully it all goes smoothly! (Still not received my internet banking stuff mind! ;))

Mine has also been speedy but not as fast as yours! I applied around the 23rd May and have a switch date of 27th May.

They told me the same, when I rang to confirm I wanted to switch (why do they do this!?).

I haven't had the posting they send in between initial switch call and " ring to confirm call", I there anything in that posting that they relate to the confirm call or can I just phone and say yip got it so ringing to confirm I wish for the switch to go ahead.

Mine arrived two days after the switch call. There isn't anything special in the letter, if it's been more than 3 days just call them and say you had the letter. The 2nd call takes about 5-10 mins and it's just a matter of confirming the switch date. (which they may be able to bring forward if you agree)
  • They told me the same, when I rang to confirm I wanted to switch (why do they do this!?). I told the CSA my attention span was very short and if they couldn't ring me back in the next 1/2 hour I would be closing the account. CSA offered to 'walk' over to the switching team and ask them to call me. And they did! :D

Similar scenario here. Waited 10mins to be put through to the switching team again and said that If they didn't call me back very soon they can forget it.
It's a totally pointless call reiterating in summary most of the previous longer call. You're having to acknowledge the same things multiple times which is pointless, but I assume all down to the new switching rules which came in last year, though the M&S way is particularly long winded.
This could easily be a 2 min call confirming the switch date only. I was happy to leave my negative feedback about the calls.

If doing the switch in branch you only need one visit and the follow up call isn't required.

Appreciate the link and the info.

I guess I had thought that as some earlier posters had reporting receiving theirs even though their switch date was after mine (and some even before their switch date) mine might have arrived too.

As I say though I do appreciate the info Colsten - thank you.

I agree ,it was very long winded , but in fairness to them given the constant baiting by the likes of martin lewis and his cronies regarding mis- selling and compensation to people who were fully aware of what they were signing up for. I think that M&S are more than justified in explaining to you person to person on more than one occasion the consequences of what you are doing.

Unfortunately, there are way too many people who claim they have never been sent letters, have never been told of this, that and the other, and pride themselves of never reading any T&Cs, so we now all have to suffer long winded and often mindnumbingly boring procedures just to get some basic things done with banks.
