Will that give the bank the information they need to switch your salary into the new account ?
If it's paid somewhere else it won't be affected at all....0 -
Got the security gadget this morning, at long last. That was 3 weeks from applying to having a useable account. However, still no sign of the switching pack but I have now re-requested it.
EDIT: I spoke way too soon. I cannot use the security thing because I need to activate it first with a code they haven't sent me yet.
Losing the will to live soon.0 -

the whole switching process is horrible as well as the security key and then needing to call to activate for this code and that code0 -

My letter has an activation No,, but no "telephone security number"
Anyone know where you get this from ?0 -
The T&Cs say "You will be asked to create a Telephone Security Number when you apply for your Account by telephone or you can create this later. The number must be between six and ten digits long." and8.4. Automated Telephone Service enables you to:
• obtain your balance;
• set up a Telephone Security Number;
So I suppose you need to call them. Good luck!0 -
I think I'm going to give this a miss, judging by recent replies. Ha.0

I set up the telephone security number when I was on the phone to them activating the debit card. They also put me through to the switching team , which was kinda nice as it was a free phone call. Still waiting for the activation code for the online banking though and the switching pack.
Best part of the whole conversation , I was asked what would I spend the hundred pounds on , I replied, pair of socks, bottle of scotch and a packet of cigars. Which brought a loud chuckle from the fella.0 -
I tried to go through to the switch team but was advised they were all busy but they could arrange a call back in the next 48 hrs.
If they think I am going to sit by my phone waiting for them to ring at a time convenient to them they need to think again.0 -

They asked me that Q, too. A bit strange since we'll obviously spend it all with M&S (assuming we will live to see the voucher). It seems to be a random question on their script, and a question added by somebody whose salary prevents M&S from giving out £150 vouchers, or paying interest, or some other offers that might attract more customers.
If they really want to know what people spend their voucher on, they need to track the voucher numbers as and when they are being redeemed.0 -
Yesterday, I received 2 envelopes from M&S, containing identical information about the switch. The cover letters were dated June 3 2014, the day I had called them to ask where the promised information was. I rang them as requested, and after being made to listen to stuff that was already in the letter(s), my 7-day countdown to the switch finally started.
Today, I received another envelope with the same switching information, with a cover letter dated 24 May 2014. Sigh.
I also managed to get my activation code for the security gadget over the phone. Apparently there was meant to be a letter with the gadget that mentioned the code, but I never had such a letter and they were quite happy to give me the code over the phone.
Hopefully this will be all now before I see the voucher. Just as well they are paying me £100 for all the hassle.0
