have you had the Cam belt changed yet?
I would consider that to be far more serious than worrying about paying for wheel balancing twice
most Audi cars state cam belt change at 75000 or five years, you said yours is on 110,000 and is still on the original belt
my priority would be to get that changed
It has been booked in (not kf or audi).
Spoke to audi again yesterday and they said the 75,000 guideline has now been changed to 140,000 or 5 years, whichever comes first (change come into affect this month). Either way ive booked it in now, so it will be done.
Gets more confusing by the day. However i will write a complaint to kf .... audi confirm they stand by their report. See where i go with my initial letter, subsequent letters will go to the necessary motoring bodies.99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500 -
Can you remind us of the issue(s) and the advice you want?0

Charging me twice for re-balance when they had already booked me in for new tyres and were not to complete service until after tyres were fitted (re-balance WAS included in service).
Ticking that the timing belt did not need replacement when it did (according to audi and now the manufacturers recommendations).
And lastly not putting enough oil in as part of the service twice, causing me to go to audi with a 'problem' with the oil light coming on and ending up with a £200 bill and a prognosis of 'the only problem was not enough oil'.
The latter, again to clarify. I was only going to audi to get a new bulb for the wing mirror, at £30. As the oil light came on again i mentioned to audi that i have Just had a service but the oil light has come on twice since the service, whats the problem? And then be slapped with a bill of £200 when the only problem with the oil light is that kwik fit didnt put enough (or any) oil in it.
Edited to add: i dont need to be ridiculed or shouted at, or made out to be a failure of a person, bad mum etc. i feel i have been overcharged, and corners were cut in places.99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500 -
Have you been back to kwikfit or called their customer services to complain about the above?

Customer services rang me two days after i went for the mot/service initiallly, but i Requested they phoned me back once the service and mot was completed. No heard off them since.
I spoke with my local kwik fit again yesterday, he was going to ring me back with details on the timing belt check details they did, not heard off him since.
Have a clear schedule tomorrow so will be contacting the head office then, and kick start a complaint.99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500 -
I think you are you are too busy worrying about the wheel balancing and ignoring the elephant in the room which is the fact that they left the car short of oil. Unbalanced wheels are a bit inconvenient, no oil could mean a new engine.
Are you sure a re-balance was included in the service not just to check the balance?
When I do a service things like drive belts, battery, brake pipes, power steering operation are checked but the service price doesn't include fixing them0 -
If you want to be helpful then please offer me factual advice, or 'from your experience' advice. I dont need to be compared to your wife washing your longjohns.
I did. In post #2. And then again in #22. And others have too. You're ignoring all of it.
Oh, and BTW - you may wish to look up 'prognosis' and 'diagnosis'.0 -

I'm worrying about it all which is why i am mentioning it all. Re-balance is not included in interim service but it is in full service, which is what i had.
I understand brakes, battery etc are not replaced as part of the service, but they are checked. I am wondering however whether they did check my timing belt and pads. Kf service indicates they have, but audi report states they need/ or are close to needing changing.
Beenthroughitall - i know the difference, clearly an error on my part, as i have been saying BOTH alot lately.
Edited to add: we've established i shouldnt have gone to kf, i am in full agreement. I have paid £400 for a £200 job though.
Anyway, i will be taking some stuff from this thread into my complaint. Which i will write today, and will update the post at a later date with the outcome.99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500 -

If the rebalance was included as part of the full service then this would have been part of the fixed price. If it was a separate line item then you could maybe ask them to refund it if they already knew it was going to have tyres fitted anyway and you asked them to do the tyres before the service.
If they found that it needed tyres fitting after they did the service then that is additional work that they then charged for.
Regarding the pads, it depends on their interpretation of a check. Kwifkit may have checked the pads, found that they were low but within the tolerance so ticked the 'ok' box. Audi did the same check and found the same result but ticked the 'change soon' box. Both results are valid but based on different criteria.
The issue of you going to Audi and paying them extra to add more oil is not Kwikfits problem. You should have gone back to Kwikfit a second time and asked them to top it up again. By getting Audi to do the additional work Kwikfit will then wash their hands of it as you can no longer prove to them it was low - for all they know you took it to Audi to have it changed again with the aim of getting Kwikfit to pay for it.0 -

Hi there,
I've got an issue with Audi and them requiring that my cam belt be changed now that my A6 is 5 years old.
I bought the car at 4 years old (with a 12 mth warranty) and paid £950 for an extra 2 years 'peace of mind'.
Nobody said anything about replacing cam belts.
I'm trying to find out when the can belt replacement recommendation changed from 114,000 miles to '5 years'.
The car has only done 44,500 miles and I've just had it serviced.
That's when they rang me to say 'you need to have your cam belt replaced'. This was an 'advisory'.
I'm trying to find out if the 5 year rule was in place at the time of purchase (late Sept 2013) and, if so, if I should have been informed about the need to spend £450 on a replacement cam belt (incl' water pump . . . sigh) over and above the £950 that I'd paid for the warranty.0
