So pay £200 for a service and mot to do a veriety of things including top up oil. Only for the oil to require topping up the next day. So i should just do it.
Umm, YES. Frankly, I don't care how much you've paid, or when, to top your oil up. If there is so little oil in that the engine is sucking air instead of oil, you SHOULD top it up IMMEDIATELY, yes.Your missing the point in the fact i paid for the oil to be filled up as part of my service but it wasnt.
No, you're missing the point that driving with the low oil pressure light on will kill your engine in VERY short order. You're also missing the point that basic maintenance such as levels, bulbs, tyres should be considered a regular, ideally at least weekly, check for all car users. And that - if those checks identify something needing attention - "I'll wait for the service/MOT/when-it's-convenient" is lax indolence.0 -
You havent read whats been posted.
With reagrd to service history only being main dealer/specalist Id disagree with that. If the service is done to schedule then its service history, regardless of who did it(maybe not kwik fit though)
Well i have but am getting more confused tbh. Many are saying service doesnt include re-balance, while i am sitting here looking at the re-balance tick box. Just spoke to kwik fit and they stated they did the re-balance as part of the service before i had the new tyres which they had already advised me i needed.
So they pulled a fast one really. The service was to be completed after i had the new tyres from them, so instead of waiting to do the rebalance then. They decided to do it before so that they could charge me again after the tyres.99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500 -

Why do you keep talking about the oil pressure light? The only light that came on was the oil level light NOT the pressure. And as already stated the oil level light came on to inform me my oil was low, it also stated 'you may carry on driving'.
You really are not getting the point. The only indication i ever had that the oil was low (and being a modern tech car the system usually tells you these things) was after i had paid kwik fit to fill up the oil.
You are givign me a row for the oil pressure light for some reason, and giving me a bollocking for not filling up the oil before my service where they were meant to fill up the oil as part of the price.99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500 -
Its more that if the low oil level light comes on at any time it means there is a problem now and needs to be addressed, not drive with it on until the next service- which in your case was the day after.
For all you know it could be leaking out the engine and if you continued to run it when the light is on then the engine would seize which costs a lot more than putting in some more oil.
Any light on the dash that is red means attention now, not worry about it later.0 -

Let me make it clear then: running your engine at any point with the oil light on does damage. Kwik fit have allowed you to do this. Not stopping straight awayis as adrian said, engine suicide. The other issues prove you've found a really shonky kwik fit.0 -

It was not a red light, it was amber.
The light came on and it said i needed more oil and i may continue driving. This is what it said on the dash.
But like. Said, as soon as the light came on, i took it back to kwik fit, who determined they did not put enough oil in.
When it came on again two days later, on my way to audi garage, audi determined there was not enough oil in. Since audi filled up the oil i have had no problem since.
KTF please understand, i had service completed on the friday, the oil light came on on the saturday. One day after it was serviced.99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500 -

This is the first time that you've said it was an explicit level warning, rather than just an "oil light". Just about every car has an "oil light", often erroneously believed by many to be a level light, when it actually warns of very, very low pressure in the engine. Very few have an explicit level warning. You really are not getting the point.
One of us isn't.The only indication i ever had that the oil was low (and being a modern tech car the system usually tells you these things) was after i had paid kwik fit to fill up the oil.

I repeat - I don't care whether you'd just paid the pope with your soul to top the level up. Nor does your engine. The level was low. Your engine cares about that, quite deeply.
Oh, and I thought we were talking about _after_ the change, not before?
Shock, horror. Human error happens. Sometimes, people forget to finally check the level. When filling after a change, you don't just pour a measured amount in. You pour a reasonable amount in, check it's about right, start the engine to fill the filter, stop the engine, recheck, top up, recheck, wait, recheck, top up if required.
Sounds like they got distracted and assumed that'd been completed. Just as well they didn't leave the cap off, eh?0 -
You can pass an MOT with pads and discs that are way past the replacement stage and would not get an advisory on it either.
I think the OP is confusing what the cars needs to keep it in best condition and what needed to be done to pass the MOT.
I would trust the report from the Audi dealer far far more than any spotty yoofs at Kwitknit.
I would get the works done at any decent indy garage.
I wouldn't allow/trust a KwitKnit nutter to wipe the flies off the windscreen.
Tyres with 2mm may be due for replacement on safety grounds - most manufacturers recommending replacing at 3mm - but they definitely should NOT fail an MOT.
Same concept regards the brakes discs - could pass an MOT but need replacing.0 -

Why do you not care that i paid someone to fill the oil up and they did not fill it up properly, how can that be my fault. Again for clarity.
Car service on Friday, all oil related work completed, like replace filter, top up etc.
Saturday, oil level light comes on, i drive straight to kwik fit who then top it up, or so they say.
Monday on my way to the adui garage to fix indicator lightbulb, oil level light comes on again. Audi top it up, and state not enough oil was out in.
So 3 times in the space of 4 days the oil was "topped up". Twice by kwik fit, once by audi. Clearly kwik fit did not "top it up" despite claiming they did.99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500
