ooooo Ed I am LOVING the plans ... I need to do almost exactly the same myself tbh ... apart from tracking down an eternity ring :) and I need to love ma lads :)
    • I have realised that buying *stuff* does not make me happy
    • I have realised that buying good quality, well reasoned purchases makes me satisfied
    :j:beer:
{DRUM ROLL} I have started OPing! :j{/DRUM ROLL} I am now paying all of the crappy bits of shrapnel that find their way into my current account from micro interest payments to TCB etc. off the mortgage. I have also introduced a regime of Edinburgher Tidies (ETs? :rotfl:) and round off my current account once in the morning and once at night
Even more :jand  ;) Join in on the OP obsessing!

Love your plans for 2016. :)

Loving the Tidies. I averaged £45 a month capital doing Tilly Tidies - not bad for bits and bobs.

Happy New Year to you all x x x

Great post. Have a fabulous celebration New Years Eve and look forward to following the journey in 2016
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

    Loving the plans Ed,

Although I don't chirp up much and comment [unless you start talking rugby :D ] I have really enjoyed following your diary with the new parenting, house moving, investing, decorating, cooking and loads more.

I look forward to reading about your challenges, adventures and exciting times ahead during 2016. ;)

Happy New Year to you all in the 'Ed household'

  • great plans. its a good time of year to make them!

I use TCB, account tidying, rewards etc and pay them straight to the mortgage. Its money I never had. I personally love the mix of OPing, Saving and Investing I am just about getting to. Really feels like you are doing something positive, it can perk you up just at the right time and does so on a regular basis. I also pay all of my FIT payments straight to the mortgage.

I am following your lead and opening a SIPP later, was going to go with tilney best invest for low platform fees. Any reason why I should avoid you can think of? Im going to transfer my stakeholder pensions there.

Good luck and happiness to you for 2016
