This happened to me many many years ago - I had the receipt, stamped, but the cheque never arrived in the account.
The bank were stroppy, I involved the Citizens Advice, threatened solicitors and they paid the correct amount into the account.
it took about two weeks of unpleasantness and an appointment with the manager.
Mine also was for selling a car - and I had no idea who to contact to get another cheque from them, or check if it had been cashed.
So what would you have done if the cheque had bounced?0 -
This looks familiar... http://ombudsman-decisions.org.uk/viewPDF.aspx?FileID=85455 Apparently this wasn't a wind up!
FOS didn't uphold the complaint on the basis that Lloyds made no guarantee the cheque would be found or even paid in, Lloyds were never informed that the OP was going to release goods against this cheque and so had no opportunity to warn them against doing so and that the buyer of the car was so transparently a fraudster that it would never have been paid anyway.urs sinserly,

Whilst I am really happy you have linked this, I am also concerned for your well-being. How on earth did you remember this thread and why on earth were you reading FOS decisions randomly (admittedly I do so occasionally)!?
I name you Detective Juicy.0 -

I was reading FOS decisions randomly (because they're always worth reading for the delicious nuggets of lunacy someone has wasted hundreds of pounds of a bank's money on pursuing), read that decision and realised that it all rang a bit too much of a bell to be a coincidence...
Maybe I just have a ridiculously good memory. Which can't be the case, since I can barely remember what I'm supposed to be doing half the time.urs sinserly,
