Have you traced the car buyer, yet? What have you tried, and what happened?

....Lambert v G & C Finance Corpn. (1963) 107 Sol Jo. 66 Retaining car log book showed an intention that contract was conditional and that property would not pass until the car had been paid for....

    But in this case.....
I didn't keep any of the log book form, I now know I was supposed to keep a section of it. I just gave it with all the paperwork for the car.
I really don't know what to do now.

So, the non-retention of the 'log book form' would be clear evidence that the sale was not conditional.

I too am impressed that OP managed to get six PPI reclaim cheques all at the same time. What a fortuitous coincidence that six individual lenders all concluded their investigations and offered redress at the exact same time as OP sold their car, turning a potential seven visits to the bank into one. What a happy coincidence, especially as some lenders are settling their complaints quickly while others are taking a long time.

Or it could be a heap of b*llocks.

Just like to point out I said this three weeks ago.

It is probably a university research project on how long you can keep a serious discussion about a completely unlikely situation going before people see right through the concocted story.

Either that, or someone privately enjoys spinning some yarn. Or is just plain bored.

"The cashier and other staff were interviewed and found that it was just an error on part of the cashier who entered the incorrect amount."

I read this as the cashier inputted a value short of what was actually written on the cheque, and hence the sender's account was debited with a lesser amount.

In other words, there were no lost cheques but the cashier put in the wrong amount when processing.

Could be totally wrong about that...

I don't believe this transaction happened - but in your scenario they would be able to get a photo copy of the cheque - would they not?
