NSK: MAY the Odds Be Ever In Your Favour!!!

I definitely agree that anything can become an 'emergency' if it means wine can be consumed!!!!!!
um -realised how overweight i am todayyou know that glimpse in the mirror when you suddenly go - 'look at that chubby face'!!!!!
So I'm focusing on the fish and salad side of our stocks. Tonight we have been using up salad ingredients including some Charlotte potatoes on the verge of not being useable as well as an old kos lettuce and an open pack of coleslaw and chicken from the roast we had yesterday.
We still have lots more chicken and some potatoes left so will rinse and repeat tomorrow evening!!!
Aims this month - no waste food - nothing is allowed to be thrown away cause it has gone off!
start exercising!!!! high intensity is key with me, long workouts do nothing (learnt from experience)
enjoy these sunny evenings! (somehow not spending money! - I don't drink so no pubs for me!!)
I am grateful for:
my health (although I'm a chubby one, all in all my health is good)
my family who I can call on if I need someone to talk to
my new kitty who helps me overcome the loss of my old kitty
my man - although he is a big lump who plays computer games and has a 'teenage boy' mentality this evening!!!!
Hope everyone is doing ok?
mountain - did writing down your problems help?
Calling - don't worry - keep on at it! There is still time to reach 15 NSDs!!

Another NSD - it's easy if you never go further than the front gate.
Really weird day - started off wanting to get on with things, did exercise, put out bathmats (washed yesterday) on line, bin not collected so added a small rubbish bag which had been missed, washing up done. Took care to rest in between (and repeat exercises) but was pleased at all the little bits mounting up.
Mid-afternoon, all change. Letter from HMRC didn't help - unlikely to get refund on stamp duty (tried not to count chickens but it would have been a welcome boost).
Started crying 3 times within a half hour (embarrassingly whilst bringing in the emptied bin and the dry washing) and just felt is there any point in carrying on, constant struggle and getting nowhere. Really low.
Then thought - go and take your hayfever tablet. Yes just one of the highlights of my summer (along with nettle stings and midge bites - though have had those in mid-winter with snow on the ground) - extreme mood swings caused by hayfever alongside the beaten with a walking stick look if I actually come into contact with the nasty stuff (grass that is).
Equilibrium restored but feeling a little battered so taking it easy now (stole some of DS3's white chocolate, he's going to notice soon, only one bar on the shelf - he still has some jelly bunnies). I buy it for him as usually I can resist it - if I desperately need a chocolate hit, I take some of his but can stop after 2 or 4 squares - not today.
It's persisting down now, so should damp down the pollen.

XSpender - sorry to hear you're feeling a bit down, redunancy/work decisions can be really hard.
Cottage_retreatist - you're right about the food waste - I'm terrible with salad, usually over buy as I tell myself it's healthy, then don't get round to eating it all.
Mother nerd - hugs, take care of yourself, hayfever is horrible.
I am having one of those days when I just can't wait to go to bed and it's over. Some quotes from the builders on more additional bits and pieces - I knew it was coming, but worse to see it in black and white somehow - and just lots of hassly things. Grump. OH is away for work so no one around to stop me stressing!
Reasons to be grateful:
1. I have a safe place to sleep and live
2. Supportive work collegues
3. I have my little car to get to work - would have been a much harder, longer day without it.Mortgage December 2023: TBC

Hello tributes... Been away for a few days visiting friends, bit of a spendy time as we went out for a lot of meals, but had a lovely time and came in £3 under budget! Staying with my parents for a few more days before heading back to uni for exams so food spends are nil at present. Up to 3 SFDs so far.New graduate trying to get debt-free.

Evening Triibutes!!!
I want a lentil loaf now please!!! Arggggh - you all made me hungry
Sorry I never checked in yesterday - well I checked in then got distracted and didn't write anything!!! Anyhow - yesterday I can claim SFD number 5, but broke my run today. Nothing too major and all within budget!
Day off tomorrow so planning on the gym and a foodstock inventory, to see what I have stockpiled. I've a feeling it's going to be rice, beans and more beans for awhile haha!!! Wait - half a pack of rice cakes (I don't know why I buy the bloody things!!!) and cottage cheese... fridge looking a little empty... No time to do a fresh veggie run so will resort to using up brocolli and frozen stuff... see if I can last through until weekend.
Magic Cat - I liked your Hunger Games analogy too - I think I'll use that one for somebody at work who sometimes harps on and manages to push my buttons. Maybe you should buy yourself a mocking jay pin like Katniss had and wear it when you have to see her to remind you
Signing off now - catch you all tomorrow!

Lotti The lentil thing was nice, I even took some slices into work to have as a snack today. I threw some pumpkin seeds into the uncooked mix and they give it a nice nutty kind of taste, although, some sunk into a clump so maybe just scattered on top next time. But, I will definitely be making it again.
Thank you to all who offered support. The news was bad for my friends, not me, I just feel sad for them.
Tough day at work again, got to try and do something but I don't know how. But then, nobody does really. SFD again too. Planning on a fresh shop Friday, waiting on some news on Thursday before I can go.Feb NST #4

Evening All,
Spendy day today, but only £2.40 on veg and £1 on a ball of twine. Didn't hit the poundshops today after all, remembered I had an occupational health apt at 11am for a blood test to check my hepatitis vaccination had worked. He gave up after 3 attempts and I now have purple arms!! He's going to try and find out if I can get it done at work and send it off otherwise it means me travelling further as he's only in my area once a month.
Fmess - I haven't heard of B&M, I was going to try the £shops or maybe tescimo/aldini
Anyhoo, got back and hit the veg patch, I haven't been there for about two weeks so had to spend over a hour clearing weeds, then managed to build the fruit frame on my own (pat on the back!) and got all the fruit bushes in, as well as the posh peas and their bamboo frames. My auntie has suggested that she pops over to me for half hour in the evenings once DD has dropped off and her son is home to control the dog, I can then get over there a few times a week. It won't start till next week tho, as she is not in the best of health and has had DD Monday, today and is looking after her tmrw as well, so is totally knackered.
Anyhoo, totals so far:
