Morning all
Congratulations stewby, that's great work
Glad your headache had gone apple muncher
Today is raining here too and it's forecast to last all weekI need to walk the dogs this morning as I booked in for a pedicure this afternoon (don't tell NSK!) and have an exercise class this evening.
Planning on having some lazy day time tv time this morning as can feel my muscles aching from yesterday's class.
Hope you all have a good day

So i set today as my start date.
I have been away for a few weeks staying with relis so have had little control over meal planning. OH and I agreed after the BHol weekend was 'go time'
All excited, no plans for the next few weeks except to go to classes regularly. My local bikram and gym have offers on which transforms into a massive saving.
So time to start.
Dug out my work out gear and packed everything up ready, meal plans sorted.
Late yesterday afternoon reached over the bed to move a cat toy into reach for the kitten and suddenly a huge pain in my calf. Felt like someone hit me hard with a broom handle. Couldent put my foot to the floor.
After a stint in A and E they advised i have torn my calf muscle
Off my feet for a week, no proper exercise for 6 weeks.
so i am going to bow out ladies.
I will pop back when back on my feet. Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -

Oh no! Poor you!
But please don't disappear. We know weightloss is mostly down to eating right, not just exercise,so please lurk and linger. Maybe have some time out then re-set goals? Obviously, you must rest up and let the calf heal properly. Hope it's a quick mend.

What about doing exercises at home that just work your upper body and abdominals? You could do arm curls etc whilst sitting down and could just use a bottle of water or can of beans for weights?

Apple muncher, thank you for your reply.
Weirdly, and the OH will confirm this, I don't lose weight healthy eating. (yes i know, science would say otherwise.. but its true!)
Its exercise that my body goes nuts for. For example last year i was on a good balanced diet with absolute zero loss (this was a GP study so no cheating was tolerated)
however when starting bikram and gymastics the weight just dropped off.
So don't worry i will pop in and keep up with what you guys are up to but if i regularly post i will just be whining! lolPlease note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had a good weekend.
I went for a walk in the country yesterday and had plenty of veggies so was a good day overall.
stewby - Well done on your weight loss
Tygermoth - Sorry about your calf. I agree with the others though. No need to leave. I pulled my neck this morning so will take next few days of exercise off. I'm just doing a few random squats every hour or so as not to aggravate my neck. Maybe do some arm weights, punches (anything sat down) or just relax and try and fit in other goals like drinking more water or more fruit and veg.0 -
Hi all, do you mind if I join you??
I'm going to Spain at the end of July for a week and calculated yesterday that I have less than 8 weeks remaining to get myself into bikini ready shape. Therefore the diet and exercising must start with a vengance!
I generally get really lazy at weekends so I'm going to try and exercise and eat healthily during the week, then have weekends as more relaxed days.
I started exercising at the beginning of the year and so far haven't really noticed much difference in my size (although the OH says he can tell there's less of me to hug!) but have noticed an improvement in my health. I also stopped smoking at this time and significantly reduced the amount of alcohol I was consuming (last year I basically lived in a hotel with expenses paid so drank rather a lot!) so I was hoping that this would have some kind of effect on my weight but I haven't really noticed anything.
I'm lucky enough to have a cheap gym nearby with a good selection of classes, and lots of hills around to run (walk (crawl?!)) up and down on nice days. So, saying that, the plan is...
Monday evenings: Aerobics class
Tuesday mornings: 1-2 mile run
Tuesday evenings: Core class
Wednesday mornings: 1-2 mile run
Wednesday evenings: HIIT class
Thursday mornings: 1-2 mile run
Thursday evenings: Step class
Friday mornings: 1-2 mile run
Weekends: A leisurely walk with the OH
Of course - this all depends on the weather, if it's raining then I know that I'll be staying in bed for that extra 45 minutes!
My main problem is my diet. Whilst I rarely eat chocolate/crisps/etc, I do have fairly big portions (I usually cook what should be 4 servings, OH eats approx 2.5 and I eat 1.5) and the meals I cook generally aren't that healthy. We eat a LOT of pasta, rice and potatoes for example. So any help that people could offer in terms of some healthy meal plans would be much appreciated! (Please note - me and spicy food do not like each other!)
So, I think that's enough of a ramble from me for today. Lovely to meet you all, and I hope you don't mind me stopping by!0 -

Well done HDK
I did a sneaky weigh in this morning and I'm 1lb down from yesterdayI know that I should be about 9st11lb when I've had a run of a good couple of days of eating.
Welcome rosie, loving the exercise plan and well done on the giving up smoking and reduction in alcohol consumption. I follow a diet plan whereby you dont eat carbs after 2pm. I find this works for me as I love carbs and used to have large portions of them for dinner but then obviously didn't burn them off as it was so near to the end of the day. I have everything else I would have had for dinner but minus the carbs e.g. Bolognese with no pasta, sausage and veg with no potatoes etc.
The easiest way to control your portions would be to use a smaller plate or bowl. I used to do this and used a desert/cereal bowl instead of a dinner plate.

tygermoth - grrrto pesky diets not being effective! I know it's easy to have ideas when you are not the one with the injury...but here's my two penneth worth. Feel free to ignore!
V-ups (mid, side)
press ups on knees 'til calf can take your weight again, then...
press ups with a T-up
bicep curls, Arnold curls, hammer curls, thrusters, shoulder presses
tricep curls, skull crushers
When you can put weight on your leg:
all the arm ones standing up
air squats (just half way down), air squats squeezing an exercise ball between knees - at speed!
Am sure you've loads of ideas from your bikram and gymnastics. I just know that when I'm injured, my eating slips, and having an exercise plan helps me to keep on track.
Fmess, well done on the weightloss! Me and the scales are soooooooo not friends at the mo. Grrr!
rosieyour exercise schedule makes me tired just reading it! Just like HDK's! Go for it! I also find that a no sugar, no processed carbs diet works for me. If only I could maintain it...!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
