Its a good sign that you are missing it as it means that it has become part of your normal routine :)

Hope the knee sorts itself out soon.

Lovely weather for a run this weekend so went out and did a parkrun on Sat (I was really struggling for the last mile from all the mountains earlier in the week) but as a good sign I was actually disappointed with the time despite it actually my second fastest 5k ever. :rotfl:

Sunday was another lovely day for jogging, so a gentle low heartrate run (144 BPM ish). Ended up doing the longest run I have ever done of 15.6 miles.

I have now completed all of the badges for the month on strava for the first time in a while and with a week left. :j:j
For this month, they were run a 10k, a half marathon, run 200k in the month and climb 3489 meters in the month.

Edit: Personally I have never really got on with treadmills and gyms. I find it really hard to motivate yourself to do any sort of distance, its much easier to run to the next lamppost than it is on a treadmill.

I have just started jogging in the last fortnight - I did a race for life about 5 years ago after following Cto5k programme. This time I just planned a loop and went out. Each outing since has been a personal best - all still pretty slow and I look like a beetroot for ages afterwards. I am just expending the loop each time as I know that any attempt at 'going round the park a second time' just won't work as it is too easy to give in and just do 1. I feel the same when using a treadmill - it is boring so you quit too early. Fresh air is much nicer.
I made my first 'no walk' 5k on Thursday - a great feeling of achievement. It took 34 mins so there is still massive room for improvement
    Good luck

I like loops too, once you get to the furthest point away from your house then you have to make it back anyway however you get there.
Good effort on the 5k, 34 mins for a first run isn't a bad time, I know people that have been running for years that still run that sort of time. The fact is you ran it all. :T

Thanks - I started with 3k and my slowest mile (excuse mix of units) was 12:34. 2 weeks later, with an outing every 2 or 3 days in between, and I managed 5k with a 10:34 mile - I know I won't get this rate of improvement going forward but it still felt pretty good. I have to get out tonight as I had a very indulgent weekend for my wedding anniversary and 49th birthday :)

haha I thought it was just me that did that. I run 5k, 10k but measure in mins per mile.
I don't even have the foggiest idea my speeds equate to in mins per km.

I do a fair amount of walking so Endomondo tracks in miles, but parkrun and other events all seem to be in k. Plus it is a bigger number in k which makes it sound more impressive - I am so shallow!!!

I use strava to track my walking and running (well actually I use a garmin watch, but I have it set up to pull across to strava from Garmin connect)

Annoyingly there is no option to change it from miles/feet or km/meters. I really want miles for distance and meters for ascent as I don't know what feet relate too lol.

Race lengths really depend... Short races are normally in kilometres eg 5 & 10k. Then after that you end up with third, half and full marathons. You don't really see any other races (well I don't)
So with these I just find it easier to work on the fact that they are 3,6,9,13,26 miles long.

Edit: Actually I have just remembered that a couple of friends did a 25k and 50k races the other day. But they were at the keswick mountain festival so not sure how common those are.
Also seen a couple of 5 and 10 mile races around recently too ... my memory is shocking lol
