How's everyone coping with the heat and running? I went out yesterday about 7am thinking I'd miss the heat but I was drenched by the time I got home! :rotfl:
I use one of those running water bottles if I'm planning on being out over an hour, shorter than that I don't bother. I might have to try looping it on my belt too, it's nicer running without holding one and I'm sure I run better!Credit card debt & LBM June 2016 £25,011.12Just because it's stormy now doesn't mean you aren't heading for sunshine0 -

I have just got back in from a very gentle 5k recovery run. Its hot out there! I was dripping within about 5 steps! Hope it cools down a bit before Friday as I have a 10k trail race to do! (warm up for the half marathon in 3 weeks  )
I think that I will need to look into a bottle of some sort to hold. Even when I did over 2hrs on Sunday it was at a gentle pace (<140bpm heart rate) so I think that I'd be happy to hold it.
Its rare that I run hard when training other than for sprints or hill work.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
Ooo which half marathon are you doing? That's my next challenge, I'm slowly building up my mileage on my long runs.
Yeah I think if you're running steady then holding a water bottle should be fine. You can even get holders for them, then you hold the holder instead of the bottle so I'm not sure what difference that makes!
Also could you tell me how I quote the previous post in my replies, I'm still learning and can't suss it out! ThanksCredit card debt & LBM June 2016 £25,011.12Just because it's stormy now doesn't mean you aren't heading for sunshine0 -

There is a button with quote written on it on my screen :rotfl: next to the thanks button. I do have the forum set to the "old style" so not sure what it looks like on yours.
I am doing the Humber Bridge half marathon on the 26th June I think it is. Its going to be my first half so not going to be pushing too hard with it. I'd like to do sub 1:30 but its not a flat course so I'd be happy to be under 1:40.
I am working towards doing some trail running and fell running ideally, I've run a few mountains but just for fun. I'd like to enter some races next year. Sadly we don't have and mountains or even big hills near to me to practice.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -

Thank you, I think I've found it!
I bet it's great running over the Humber Bridge, you will have to let us know how you get on. 1:40 is a great time to aim for, especially with your first one, then you've got a marker for your next one!
Oh it's the opposite where I live, it's hills galore, which I suppose is great for my training but sometimes I just want to run flat! I have to start on a hill or end on one so I judge how I'm feeling that day, most of the time it's nicer knowing its downhill home!
Did 5 miles today, I don't work Wednesday's so it was nice and leisurelyCredit card debt & LBM June 2016 £25,011.12Just because it's stormy now doesn't mean you aren't heading for sunshine0 -

Days off would be nice its another lovely sunny day. Glad you enjoyed your run.
I have run over the bridge a few times (its about 4 miles across and back from the car park) its a quite nice run. There is something called cardiac hill around the 9 mile point which sounds fun :rotfl:
Hills would be great, I have just booked a weekend in the lakes at the beginning of July to go and run the ullswater way, and possibly if I get time a loop over helvellyn. That's my present to myself for doing the half marathon lol. I did get carried away and entered the derwent water 10 mile race in November and booked the accommodation for that too :j“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -

Cardiac hill :rotfl: that sounds a joy! And at mile 9 too, they could of stuck it nearer the beginning!
Lol that's a great reward, one only a runner would understand! I do love the lakes but I've never actually ran there, although all my family are going in August so surely I can get someone to run with me. Im worried I'll get lost alone! Do you enjoy trail running? I think I'd like to try it, you get to run lots of nice places then too rather than circling the roads.

Trails are so much better than the roads! I hate running on roads, but it is a necessary evil for training.
When I first ran in the lake I did routes I had walked a few times. Now if I have time then I will walk a route one day and then run it the next.
If I don't have time then I will just run it blind. Its not like I am racing them and I do spend a while route planning in advance.
The nice thing about doing the ullswater way is that it is fairly flat and should be fairly well signed. Although I am going to divert to the 2 high routes when I do it and on the leg from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding I will leave just before Glenridding and head over the top of glenridding dodd.
As for getting lost, I put the route onto my watch, I carry a phone that has the 1:25k map and route on it (Doesn't need a signal just GPS), I have a map and compass and if all that goes wrong I have a 2nd phone with the same capabilities...“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -

I'm impressed with how prepared you are :T I don't think you'll be getting lost!
The route sounds great, I've actually been browsing the lakes trails, inspired by this. it make such a difference to your run when it's beauiful all around you and there's not a constant car checking going on. Afew of my local routes have so many side streets that it's a constant stop and start.
Today is a nice but hilly route and I'm geared up ready to go :j
Happy park runs to anyone that's doing them. I will do one some day.....Credit card debt & LBM June 2016 £25,011.12Just because it's stormy now doesn't mean you aren't heading for sunshine0
