Shoulder not hurting, knee stiff but also not hurting. It has finally stopped raining so hard that the front step was flooded and the throat virus is gone.....so how far back from the 6km continuous should I go? Last run was 12 days ago-6km on the cliffs in Cornwall.

If you are just coming back from injury then it is better to go short and see how your knee holds up, maybe do a couple of k loop. Then you can see how it is after the first one. Its always better to start short and build it up than rush back from injury and make yourself worse.

Its hard to recommend an exact distance as only you will know how it feels.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Just competed couch to 5k. Yay! Do I now go for 10k or PBs? Don't want to stop running, but running longer/faster feels scary! Any tips please?

Just keep going. If you just keep running speed will come as will distance. Don't try and increase distance too much too quick.

Personally I would try and make the 5k a social occasion eg. parkruns. to keep it embedded as a routine. This will naturally speed you up with all those people to run with.

And congrats on managing to run 5k :T:T

Hope everyone had a good bank holiday weekend.
I got out to a 10k race on Sunday. Progress is being made and I took over 2 mins of my PB. I actually ran a PB for the first 5k and my 3rd fastest ever 5k time for the 2nd half.
Hopefully soon be running sub 20/40 mins for 5/10ks.

Nice to finally be seeing the results of all of this training that I have been doing.

  • Hello everyone

Hope I'm okay to join on the thread, just signed up on MSE today and running is my passion and it's free so it's money friendly!

Been out for a run this morning, I have to do them in a morning or it just doesn't happen! I'm abit of a nerd with it all and think I've bored my OH with running chat so hopefully it will be welcome here!

I'm yet to brave a park run, I find the thought of them daunting but I'm determined to try one this month.

    Welcome sunshine&showers :hello:

I am a firm advocate of parkruns, everyone is so nice and friendly. I was marshalling last week, and it was an interesting experience to get to see the rest of the field running, and speak to people who I have never spoken to before.

Personally I have never managed to get out for a run in a morning before work, that would involve an even earlier alarm than what I currently have .. and thats hard enough to get out of bed for :rotfl:

  • Thank you indesisiv

I think it's fab that it's all run by volunteers and it's great that you marshalled :T I know once I go the first time then I'll be fine and it would be great to track my time running without all the looking out for cars!

I've fine tuned my morning regime so I can sleep alittle longer. The clothes are ready at the side of the bed, the trainers are in the hall and I skip the non essentials like drying my hair and doing my make up, wash and go :rotfl:

    Warm running out there today!
Got me thinking that I really should have taken some water with me when doing a long run. Normally I don't bother but I was really beginning to feel the need for a drink at the half marathon point so cut my run short to 16 miles when I was going to do 18.

What do you guys use to carry water when doing a long run? I do have a running pack that I use when I go fell running but its a bit overkill for a Sunday run.

I wear a belt-pouch thing for my keys and phone (and bus pass because you never know...). If I carry water I have one of those loop bottles and hook it in my belt so it fits in the small of my back. I probably looks ridiciulous but then, frankly I already look like a galumphing hippo :rotfl:
