    Congrats on the marathon @whizzybee

I've just had a week doing absolutely nothing due to an injury!
I'm away this weekend in the lakes so hoping that the week off will have made it better.
Friday, a gentle walk up a couple of hills.
Sat, 16 miles and 9 summits.
Sun, depends on how I feel after sat, poss a gentle 10k and then a hike up a few hills.
Mon, prob a run up from patterdale to the top of angle tarn pikes and back down before heading home.

I am going to restart tomorrow after injury!
I shall start with a slow flat mile.
The knee hurts after about 4 hours of hiking....so obviously improving. I'm doing loads of piigeon pose to work on the tight ness and lots of clam for strength but a little apprehensive that it will ping!
Intend to restart gym as well....it will be quieter now the holidays have begun and all the yummy mummies are at their holiday homes....
I'm looking at new shoes...my Brookes Adora2 are no longer available so tempted by Succony Triumph 20..womens....light , neutral, midfoot, soft where they might impinge on the achilles....anyone use these? And also mid priced....the japanese brands were rather dear and my feet do not suit the cheap ones as they tend to have stiff seams which rub.....not going for false economy.
Right, now I've announced I'm running tomorrow, I'll get the kit out and ready ....so much easier to just put it on and go than faff about wondering why there's only one sock.

    TiredTrophy,

One of my female friends wears the Saucony Triumph ISO 2 and totally loves them now. We both did the 100 mile South Downs ultra about 6 weeks ago and she wore them without issue for the first 50 miles and only changed shoes because different trainers on that distance helps your feet out for the 2nd half of the run

Not in the same league! But did get out for half an hour this morning with no ill effects.was more than a mile..just slow. Watching the storks is very distracting from one's slowness!
Will go and get the new shoes when I'm paid....then to start saving for a shoe suitable for continental winter:)
I've got a money off voucher for the particular store where I tried them so am moneysaving:)

    TiredTrophy,
Welcome back to the world of running :) hope the recovery goes well.

I have a pair of Saucony Triumph ISO 's and so far I really like them. Although I haven't managed to get too many miles in with them yet as I have mostly been running off road with my innov8 Trailroc 255's.

I did manage to get in 25 miles in over 2 runs over the weekend with the small matter of 6000 feet of climbing.

And in the spirit of Moneysaving, I got the running shoes, plus a hiking backpack, hiking shirt and new trekking poles , all of good quality, for only 10% more than the price of the shoes with a combination of points and vouchers !

Sounds like a successful shopping trip.
I may have just gone on a not so moneysaving bit of shopping and ordered myself a Garmin Fenix 3. I even forgot to use quidco to get £14 cashback. All in all not very :money:

Whats a hiking shirt? I just hike in the same baselayers that i use for running, although it has been a while since I went walking rather than fell running. Roll on Sunday for a 20 mile hike and probably sore feet

    Insect proof!
I run in my cycling tops and put my keys in tbe back pocket but ths backpack catches on them so a hiking shirt is better...tried ordinary shirt but got sweaty and then blisters under the straps.
What socks do you wear for hot weather running?

The tops are proper base layers that are designed to wick away the sweat. Never had any problem with running (with my running pack on) or walking with a full backpack on. But its an each to their own thing I guess. Although when running my keys are in the back zip pocket of my shorts.

I have been using More miles Cheviot socks recently. They are designed for trail running but I have been using them for road running too and they have been better than any of the others I have used.
Previously used asics and new balance socks.
