I don't know what they are made of to be honest, I just kept trying different socks till I found some that didn't give me blisters.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0

Running temporarily on hold after a visit to have an x-ray. Nothing fractured but need to rest. So its got 5 days before I am in the lakes running to get better!! Hopefully I'll manage to get some swimming or something in to keep fit in the mean time.
Kinesio tape ordered to hopefully hold myself together at the weekend.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
I hope you stay sane in the meantime.
Get better soon!0 -
I'm not very good at being injured.
I have to rely on myself to talk myself out of taping up my foot and going for a gentle jog just to see how much it hurts.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
No really don't!
A rest is just a chance to plan your targets, routes , races and training programmes, review your kit and possibly clear out the cupboard under the stairs0 -

I should be able to rest till Friday. I can actually rest sort of over the weekend too. I do have to do a min of 15k on Sat as I am out recce'ing a race route for October but I guess I could walk that if needs be. It is after all the lake district. However I want to do some stuff as I am doing the yorkshire 3 peaks the weekend afterwards. Then a flat 10k race the week after that i have been targeting for a PB.
Annoyingly I wanted to test my shiny new running watch out on some runs... but it looks likes I shall have to give it, its first workout with a swim on Monday then test its navigation at the weekend.
Hope your injury recovery is going well.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
Yes thanks it went well yezterday, tho strava is not working for me at the moment. It was a known route and 4.6km. I'm going to increase very slowly this ti e.
Interestingly today's hike was 20km and 1000m of climb.....I was faster on average than my run yesterday!
I live so ewhere with rather large mountains....and currently its 'cool' at 28C where I live!
I've only been to the lake district once ....it was so beautiful but very difficult to get away from the crowds without a car.
You sound jolly fast!0 -
Ha...usi g another mappi g site I see it was 12km and 750m of climb...OH was a amused by the image of rocket propelled fat old lady.....0

Things have a hard time tracking elevation unless they have built in stuff to help. If there are trees then most things have issues recording too, and if you have zig-zags whilst climbing that can lead to shortening.
I am not sure how often strava puts points into the run? Could it be straightening it out? My watch is set to record a point every second.
Best way is to keep building back up slowly
Sometimes if you are climbing that much then it is quicker to walk up.
Strava was always erratic for me. Interestingly strava says the run I did last night was 0.1 of a mile shorter than the length that Garmin says it was. Although it does agree with the elevation changes. The run was recorded on my Garmin watch and then synced with strava so it is the strava software that has made the difference.
I love the lake district, in fact I am there quite a lot in the summer. Not especially looking forward to this weekend as the route I am going to look at some of it is in the tourist bit so probably going to be busy.
I have just been looking at my stats for a quick test run I did last night, lots of work to do on efficiency and balance for me.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0
