Well done on the HM.
I've just got back from a weeks running and walking in the lake districtso decided to go and do a relaxed run with my athletics club ... we ended up doing 9 miles in just over an hour ... not quite relaxing recovery run that i had planned lol

Hi all
Have just started running really, although I used to do a fair bit of it as rugby training when I was younger. (20 years ago!)
Just done the couch to 5k and am now confidently running for 30 mins every other day. My plan is run 10km by my birthday in March next year.0 -

Beyond 5k is the easy bit, the hard bit is getting going in the first place to do the 5k. Well done on your progress so far. :T:T“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
indesisiv - that's a real good time. I would be well happy with 9 miles in just over an hour....
Hello Grifster77 - I started last Autumn on the 5Ks -- been doing the local parkruns pretty much regularly since then. Today is my 41st and I have been a volunteer on a further 3
Good luck everyone if you are planning on running this weekend - what ever the distance - just get out there and have fun!
The hardest part (as I keep telling myself) is getting the kit on and leaving the house....0 -
Hi all,
Can I join! I'm a newbie to running having caught the bug this summer. I was inspired by my workmates who did our local ParkRun for charity and by my boss who is an experienced runner and looks incredible for it.
I've learnt the hard way not to get excited when starting out, having pranged my foot 2 weeks by going out too far too soon. I've rested it, bought new more suitable shoes and will be starting a sensible walk/run plan tomorrow.

Good luck @Liz3yy - build up slowly and it should be good.
@Scott Chegg - I have been doing a few parkruns too since I started last year (1 year in October I have been running) today was my 30th. I finally decided to work on the pacing and go out slower and hold/speed up the pace rather than go out quick and try and hang on like I have been doing for a year lol. Not the fastest time but it was well worth the experiment with nearly even splits for each mile.
Next time I will try and push a bit harder for the last mile. I have a free weekend next week so just trying to decide where to go and do some parkrun tourism.
Hoping to get out for a longer run tomorrow as I haven't really managed any long runs over the summer as its all been race / recovery weeks. So hopefully get out for a nice gentle 13-16 mile run tomorrowLow effort, low heart rate, low speed.
Edit: Managed to get out for a nice long run today 13.7 miles. Was aiming for a nice gentle 8:30 min miles, ended up with 8:24 min average so happy with that with an average of 150bpm heart rate.
Now for a bit of a strenuous week with a reverse handicap 10k race on Wed.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
I've just started the couch to 5k app - and committed to running with a friend who does Parkrun every week next Feb! I'm really unfit, so it's all a bit terrifying - but I've done 1 week of training now and am feeling good about it.
Hoping that you guys will inspire me onwards.I've also made a pact with 2 friends that we'll all train 3 times a week, so we're accountable to each other.

Sounds like a good way to do it
Don't worry about the parkrun, everyone there is generally really friendly. We have people that are getting PB's each week and are still in the 50 mins for 5k.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
Hi guys.
I started a new thread about doing the Couch to 5K, but had no replies, so do you mind if i join in here instead?
I have never been a runner, and am quite unfit to be honest, but once the kids are back at school next week i will be starting the C25K plan.
But my main problem at the moment is that i dont know what trainers and sports bra to buy, especially because I'm on a budget.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?0 -
@wantToBeSe
As a bloke I am not sure with the sports bra - but try this thread for suggestions
Shoes, any that fit at the moment. Not sure that I can really suggest anything as it has taken me lots of different trial and error to find some that I get on with.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0
