Claire, fingers crossed for you i'm sure things will be fine, just remember to be as open & honest as possible (the OR's usually allow for nerves!) you shouldn't have any problems...when its all done & dusted you'll wonder what all the fuss was about :o

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I want to do is change my bank details on my direct debits. I've been sitting here for well over a flipping hour now, some companies have been brilliant, took a debit card payment and changed my bank details so that my payment will come out on 01 September. Then theres other - my council tax I sat waiting for someone to answer the phone for 25 mins only to be told the payment system is down and I would need to call back. I asked if I could set up a new direct debit, they said no, not until this payment has cleared, which means I need to call them back twice, once to pay this month and then when thats cleared call back again to set up a direct debit. GRRRRRRRRRR. Severn trent - their payment system was down as well. TV licensing - they ve taken my new bank details but dont know when the payment will come out. Rent and housing insurance - they need to send a direct debit mandate for me to sign and can only take the payment AFTER they have recieved this back - meaning I will be in arrears.

I don't know if it's just me but this is doing my head in, I feel like crying. I had all my payments set (on my old account) to come out on 1 or 2 of eac month, that way I knew exactly what I had left to live on for the rest of the month. Now I feel all confused with who I need to call back and sort payments out with and when they will be coming out.

I hate sorting out money related things.

Leaving to go cry and smoke huge amount of cigarettes. Sorry for the pathetic rant.

Oh Claire, have some big hugs... I can sympathise with you on the council tax system - I rang up about our direct debit, only to be told "oh, just do it online", it took me half an hour to find the form on the website... filled it all in only for it to be asked to printed and posted! Arrrgh! It wont get there on time! So.... today I'm listening to the phone ring as I post to get them to put our new detials straight on the system like she could have done yesterday  !!!!

Also just wanted to say GOOD LUCK for your interview! Let me know how it goes xxxx

Hope it's going well as I type Claire - remember by the time you read this the really hard bit of first contact with the OR will be over :)

And we wonder why people's finances are in such a pickle when places that you would have thought would make it as easy as are the very places that make it absolutely impossible. Every place I've lived (as an adult, not with parents) and had to Pay Council tax for I have been to magistrates court because 'I haven't paid' and the second I get there and show the magistrate all the correspondence etc, they immediately throw it out and say they are happy there is no problem/case etc etc. What a waste of tax payers money!!

Fingers crossed here for you :)
