13 July 2007 (again)
I left work today and, as usual since Monday, went to buy the local rag.......
My name was in it under the bankruptcy section
I was quite shocked to see it to be honest. I think I'd convinced myself that it wouldn't be in there at all, but there is was in black and white.
Wow - you must be about the only one of us who has seen their BR announcement in the local paper. I bought the local papers for a month after my br, and never saw my name. It was only after reading the post about the London Gazette that I searched there - I found it, but two weeks after the date.
Never mind, it will soon be yesterday's news, and I bet that hardly anyone will see it.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

aw Claire. I don't know how i'll cope when that happens to me.. i have this plan to tell everyone there a sad sod for even reading the stuff and then laugh at them, wether i will or not time will tell, but as Rog says, it will be yesterdays news.. tomorrowThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0

I went to court two weeks ago to delare myself bankrupt after my ex fiancee had left me with a huge morgage and loan to pay off (he was declared bankrupt 6 months ago) After going through six months of hell I wish I'd found this site earlier!!0

17 July 2007
I've finally received my letter today from the OR. I have to have an interview, as expected, over the telephone on 27 July at 2pm. The letter tells me to go through my statement of affairs again before this date to make sure nothing has changed and make sure that all of the information is up to date. There is also a list of forms to complete as follows: Tax and National Insurance disclosure, this is so that the OR can get information from the Inland Revenue, a NTB2 - "notice setting out your duties and responsibilites as an undischarged bankrupt" which includes things such as not obtaining credit for more than £500 or becoming director of a company etc, this form has to be signed and witnessed by a friend or family member, a comments/suggestions card, and an ethnic monitoring form (WHY?). There are also leaflets entitled what will happen to my bank account, What happenes when you are interviewed by the official receiver, what will happen to my home and a guide to bankruptcy. I've seen all these forms before, if anyone wants to get them go to www.insolvency.gov.uk and you can get them, and others, from there.
So it looks like I'll have a fun night tonight completing all this paperwork!!Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
That's the standard pack of stuff that I was sent as well.
Doesn't take long to fill it all in, especially if you bin the 'Ethnic monitoring' form.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Good luck with your paperwork, Claire. Most OR telephone interviews are quite straightforward, but could last up to an hour and a half, so make sure you are comfortable, and have a cold drink nearby.
The comments/suggestions and ethnic monitoring forms are not compulsory. I binned mine because I disagree with government departments doing 'self-monitoring' questionaires.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. Hi claire, new here and just wanted to say well done, I am getting everything sorted at the moment to go BR, and my is it daunting, you think all sorts, so thanks for dispelling some of the paranoid delusions I have, the more I read here the stronger I get about this hole I am in, and the more determinded I am to get out of it very soon.
MigzLooking to the horizon... instead of over my shoulder real soon!!:rolleyes:0 -
Hi Claire,
I went BR the day before you, so just wanted to say hi! I guess your my BR twinnie hehe! Its a bit tough it was in the paper, but on the brightside at least it has been and gone now. I'm still waiting for mine to be published which is awful and I'm sure the newsagents wonder why I have such an interest in our local rag all of a sudden! The weekly local paper is out tomorrow so I'll be round there again just to see if I'm named and shamed in that (please god no!!!).
I also just wanted to say that my Co-Op card arrived today, the account only took about a week so ask the branch why yours is taking so long? I presume you would have applied the day after me, so I don't know why all of a sudden there is a 2 week backlog?
Anyways, take care of yourself - my interview is on the 31st so I'll be wanting to read all about yours!!
The Bride x0
