I haven't posted on here for the last few days as I haven't been very well (all together now, awwwwwwwwwwwww) I've had a dodgy tum, poor me ay??
Anyway I got home Friday to find my new Co-op bank card WOO HOO!!! Just got to wait for the PIN number now and then it'll all be up and running.
Unfortunately, it was set up to late to have my salary paid into so I have to collect a cheque from my payroll department on Thursday. I'm having a bit of a dilemma about my cheque. I can either cash it at the bank that issued it and walk across the town with my pockets stuffed with cash and risk being mugged OR I can pay the cheque into my bank account and not risk being mugged but have to wait an extra week for my salary (I am skint this month so could do with it sooner). Not sure what to do??!!??
Just under a week until my interview with the OR now. Will keep you all posted!! XSometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
I know with my bank - Nationwide, if you take you payslip and prove that it's a salary check they clear it straight away. Don't know if it's the same for the Co-op but worth a try.
Good luck with the OR interview.Debt at highest May 04 - £65,639.22 - Started DMP with CCCS 1st June 04 & now self managed DMPDebt now 20th December 2015 £31677.13 Paid Off to date £33962.09 - just not going quickly enough!
Debt free date July 2024! I don't think so, it'll be going quicker than that!!!

Sorry you haven't been wel
Can you cash it, put it in a sandwich bag and then ask the bank to use the loo (say you're pregnant? lol) or use next door's loo (is there a McDonalds/pub etc near?) and safety pin it to the insides of your knickers. No one will be able to lift it there without actually really mugging you (as it's pinned and not in an easy to access place) and stripping you - unlikely unless you live in an area this happens a lot and are wearing your Diamonds and Gucci on show. This might be easier to do if a) you have big knickers that come up to the waist and b) you have either trousers or elasticated etc waist skirt on.
I did this when I went into London to buy some knee high lace up boots when I was 16, and got so excited at finding the perfect pair in the sales that I stood at the cashiers desk in Selfridges, and promptly rammed my hands down the front of my skirt to get the money. Not a great look, but I was young and excited lol. My Mother was rather worried about getting mugged in London with £200 on me in cash (it was a while back now lol), so suggested it.
Come to think of it, I think they do money belt things like this now that go next to the skin - either belt or like a gun holster. Obviously a bit more pricey than a sandwich bag though
On the other hand, I've walked many times through very dodgy areas of London with thousands of pounds in cash on me and never been mugged, so it's not wonderfully likely to happen in the way of - do you usually get mugged? What will be different this time? (Yes, you will have lots of money on you, but only you will know this don't forget!).Do not feed the trolls please.0 -

Me too, thats really made me laugh!!
I think as Pixie has said, it's highly unlikely, so I'll risk it I think. I've never been mugged or had anything like that happen to me but I always think it would be just typical, with my luck anyway, for it to happen when I've got my whole month's salary on me rather than just a couple of quid.
Plus I've got the day off work on Friday so I can spend the morning ringing round to set up my direct debits and paying this months bills if I have the money there to do it, otherwise it's going to be another week if I pay the cheque in and have to wait for it to clear.
Got the Heebie Jeebies already about Friday. Don't feel as bad (well not yet anyway!) about it as I did about going to court. Fingers crossed it'll go well. I don't mind if I get an IPA (although it would be brill if I didn't of course) but if they take my car I will be gutted.
Will let you know how I get on! XSometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -

Glad for the giggle
Feel for you - hope it goes ok, but know sort of how you feel in that 'pre-BR, scared to answer the door/phone/mail' feeling.
Sure it will be ok, remember you're not trying to pull the wool over the OR's eyes, so you have nothing to worry about really.Do not feed the trolls please.0 -

Today is OR interview day - I'm so stressed.
I took my pay cheque yesterday and cashed it then paid the money into my Co-op account. Now I'm sitting here ring all the companies that I pay by direct debit (rent, water etc) to give them my new bank details/pay be debit card. It's all such a hassle. I've been on the phone to the council tax department for 20 mins now and still no one has answered. There should be an easier way than this of doing it (probably is but I just dont know it!).
In a bit I'm going to collect a fold up bike that I saw last night in the paper - £10! BARGAIN!! Just in case they do say that they're going to take my car, at least I'll have some way of getting places then, plus it's healthier I suppose.
Really dreading this afternoon, interview is at 2pm. I'll let you all know how it goes. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!! X XSometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
Hi Claire
Just popping in to wish you good luck for this afternoon.
Remember to have a glass of water (something stronger later perhaps!) with you and write down any questions beforehand that you may have.
I hope everything goes well for you - I know how difficult it is to control your nerves, mine were all over the place beforehand - but once you get into it you will be fine.
When you can, come back and let us know how you got on.
Take care
