Sooooooooo, I was sorting the paperwork out for that with one of the lovely nurses who obviously didn't know about my BR, and she was going on about just pay the £65 and we'll sort the rest out through the insurer, I was about to explain that I was going to pay as the insurance wouldn't cover it when this other (snotty jobsworth) ooops I mean receptionist, jumped in and said "no disrespect to you but what with you financial difficulties we won't be extending any credit to you".
What a mare :mad: I would complain if I was you - she had no right to say it full stop, let alone in front of other people.Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000

So I went back to the vets today...........nothing said this time thank goodness!
For possibly the first time since my BR I'm really struggling with money this month. I've been putting a bit away each month for when things come up but this month has just been really bad so far for things "cropping up".
First there was the thing with my cat that I mentioned earlier in the thread, spay, microchip and tests cost me £225. I've taken her back today and that cost £22 for check up and medication. She has to have a descale of her teeth - £85  I'm also not sure if my other cat needs one so that might be £170 :eek::eek: Then at the end of this month they have to be fully vaccinated - £112 for both of them. Today my car tax has come - £120. I also need to pay for a service and new brake pads - god knows what that will cost. Together with my holiday at the end of the month I'm left with practically zilch in savings. I'm a bit gutted really, it's taken almost a year to build them up (and it's only a few hundred, I haven't got thousands squirreled away!) and now it's going to be all gone in a few weeks . Still at least that's what it's there for and at least I have got it.
It's made me wonder whether I'm doing the right thing in reducing my hours at work though. I've wanted to do it for a while but it is going to mean around a £150 a month reduction in money. I've justified it by being able to spend more time cooking from scratch and saving money that way but that's not going to amount to £150 a month! I need to get my thinking cap on methinks. I signed my new contract already so it's to late now to do anything, which in a way I'm glad about - it's no good making a decision just to be able to change your mind when your having a mini-coronary over it is there!!! I'm sure I'll manage, I do earn a decent wage really so I'll just have to learn to cut back a bit.
I received the funniest letter today from Severn Trent water which read as follows:
I write with reference to a letter dated 09 July 2007 (yup that's right, it's took them nearly a whole year to reply!) from The Insolvency Service advising us of your bankruptcy.
They have advised that you went bankrupt on 06 July 2007. I confirm that charges up to this date have been paid. No adjustment is therefore required on your account.
Your latest bill was issued on 27 February 2008 and the balance on your account is now XXXXX Please continue to pay your charges in line with your payment arrangement.
Why has it taken them over a year to send this to me???? It's not even something that NEEDED to be sent really is it??? Eejits!
Anyways rant over now but if anyone has any tips on saving me some cash :rotfl:feel free to let me know!Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
 Can't believe that bi*ch at the vets. Cow!
I know your fed up at the loss of your savings, but think how things would have been without them.
Savings always take longer to save than spend:rolleyes:
Have you looked at the 'up your income' boards? http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=145 some of its doing stuff for pennies, but things like Sliceofpie can be good. I see people earning £50-£100 per month.
Severn Trent don't seem to be the sharpest tools in the box:rotfl:
Keep your chin up, your doing just great:DThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -
I'd feel like reporting it to the practice manager (unless she was the practice manager). I hope you held your head up anyway! Silly woman.

Hi Clare,
I'm sorry she had such a snotty attitude. In terms of budgeting tho I have found the up your income board to be good, the old style board is good for cheap recipes and general housekeeping on a budget and the freebies board is good too. (ordered a free shampoo/conditioner/serum set from there for free last night).
Is there any chance you could do something like a car boot sale with anythin you/your friends/family don't need? It's a pain getting up so early but you can make £100 pretty easily if you have quite a bit to sell.
Take care

Not long to go now! 2 weeks yesterday!!
I've had a horrible, horrible time lately. I'm glad I'm going to be discharged because I need something to cheer me up. To cut a very long and unnecessary story short I had a miscarriage 10 days back. I've got a condition that meant I thought I couldn't even have children, and before I even knew I was pregnant it was to late, I'd already miscarried. I had a truly awful few days between going to hospital on 14 June and getting my results back on 17 June, when I didn't know if I was pregnant or had actually miscarried, but they confirmed it on the Tuesday. I was extremely shocked by it all to be honest - on the Saturday before the pains started I had been joking about with OH, singing and generally having a good time and then before I knew it I was in A&E with crippling pains being told I was pregnant, and then told I'd more than likely miscarried. I still can't get my head round it all if I'm honest.
Anyway I told a few close friends and I'm over the worst now, it's just one of those things isn't it. Nothing that anyone could have done. Can't believe I didn't know though, I always assumed you'd just KNOW if you were pregnant - how could I have not known????
Anyways onto happier things. Like I said I GET DISCHARGED IN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS :j :j :j :j    (what would we do without smileys :rotfl: ) I'm really looking forward to seeing my name on the website with discharged next to it, I think then I'll feel well and truly relieved then knowing that it really is all over. I cannot believe how fast the past (almost) 12 months have gone, even my friends and family can't believe it's gone already. I remember filing for bankruptcy and thinking OMG a year, that's FOREVER! It soon goes I tell you!
Anyways I better go - I'm posting this while I'm at work - my new hours start on 7 July and I'm off on Holiday from next Monday to Pembroke - I can't wait, it's just what I need now after the past few weeks

Aw, Claire I'm sorry to hear your sad news! Dont really know what to say
Everyones different, I knew straight away when I fell pregnant, but a mate of mine was at least 6 months before she knew officially, she just thought she was putting on weight, went to the doctors for slimming tablets and they did a routine urine test and it all went from there.
Two weeks eh! Fantastic, it will all be over soon! My OH is into 10month as from tomorrow, and yeah it has gone pretty quick for us too
I hope you have a fabby holiday, you really deserve it, it will give you a little 'thinking space' to away from the hum drum of ordinary life! Take care x0 -
Sorry to hear of your loss Claire, the symptoms (if there are any) can be easily mistaken for other ailments if your not expecting to be well expecting. Took me 8 weeks for the penny to drop with my first.
Excellent to hear you only have two weeks to go It will fly by. Have a great holiday and take care.:j0
