hehehe......this thread quite an essay now!
It's nice to post here, especially if I need to moan, because I know that there are people that understand what I'm moaning about, where as my family/friends will listen but in all fairness they don't understand what I feel like really.
This is the sort of thread that would have really helped me at the beginning of my journey and I just hope that it helps other people to see that BR can be scary but it's not anything to be scared of if that makes senseit's fear of the unknown more than anything, and I hope this thread helps to take some of that fear away for people who are about to go through it. If it's helped even one person whose read it then that would make me very happy :j

Oh no............I've just logged onto my bank account and it looks like they STILL haven't sorted my tax code  I'm not sure why this is, I had my new tax code from the IR a few days after I spoke to them at the end of last month. This means that come next month I'll owe them 3 months worth of tax :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Does anyone know how I can sort this out? I need to wait till I go back to work on Thursday to get the number for the tax office again and call them, but when I called them last month they said they would take double this month..........and they haven't. Does anyone know if they'll do anything like take what they owe (i.e. 3 months worth) over the remaining financial year? I'm worried because I don't want to get into a mess, and I hate owing money now.Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
Just found the number for HMRC and am trying to call them but no joy yet. Hope they can sort this out asap, this sort of thing stresses me right out.Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0

They're probably sent tax code notification to your employer, but they have to apply from the next available pay day, so may have already have completed May Payroll before they received it.
Highly likely they will take all the tax in one go, assuming your tax code is on a cumulative basis rather than Month1/Week 1 (would be on your copy of tax code notice)0 -
Hope you get it sorted soon Claire, such a pallava isnt it0

Hello Claire,
I have been a lurker here for a LONG while!
I have followed your diary from the start, a great help for me as i declared myself Bankrupt with days difference from you.
I though i would give you some reassurance, i am having the same Tax Code nightmare as you. Spoke to the Tax office for the 3rd time today, hope im getting somewhere, I am so anxious about owing out any money now. When i asked them what would happen with regards to the two mths tax i now haven't paid (not being my fault) i was advised that any money owed would be calculated at the end of this tax year and collected in installments over next tax year. I couldn't cope if they took three mths in one go when i get paid next - however i don't have much faith that i will get taxed at all next mth.
Anyways long and short of it is, your a star, have kept me going these last few bankrupt mths.
Good luck the the OR and that saga.

Awww thanks sh3ri3!!
Well I've finally managed to get through to HMRC today, yesterday I couldn't get through all day! And they've basically told me what you've said, that the tax wont be collected but added onto next years. I'm really glad about that, I have put the money to one side but my car could really do with some work doing on it or it's going to die soon so that money will come in very handy for that. I just hope it's sorted by the end of this month - I don't want to owe them TOO much next year!
I've got into a bit of a mess (again!) with one of my cats. Basically I needed to have her spayed and microchipped so I've been keeping the money - £63 in total  Anyway off I go to the vets - now this is the same vets that I owed around £400 when I went BR - but I've spoken to them since and they've agreed that I can keep using them - they're not the cheapest vets or the nearest to me but they are brilliant. Anyway I took her in last Wednesday and she had a mini check up before hand - turns out she has gingivitisI hadn't even noticed but the vet showed me her gums and they were quite red and sore looking. Anyway she asked me if the cat was insured and I told her yes. She said that was a good thing because the cat was going to have to have some tests to establish what was causing the problem, and I would just have to pay the £65 excess. Went home after arranging to collect her later that day.
About an hour later I had a phone call from the vet. Now this is all my own fault I know, but she reminded me that the cats vaccinations are not up to date (due last December :o) basically I hadn't had them done because my cats are both indoor cats and, crap excuse I know, I just hadn't got around to it. Anyway the vets goes on to tell me that the tests are going to be £150 + VAT :eek::eek::eek::eek: this is on top of the £63 I was paying anyway for the spay and microchip! Well I had to agree to them doing it, it's my fault her injections haven't been done and I couldn't let my gorgeous kitty suffer!
Anyway - I went back that afternoon and there was a lot of paperwork to sort out - basically I have signed up to this scheme our vets does that costs £8 per month per cat (I have 2) and for that you get twice yearly check ups, all flea and worming medication and all booster injections - well worth it I thought since I pay almost £8 a month just for the flea stuff, and it will stop me getting into this situation again (you'd think I would have learned last time). Sooooooooo, I was sorting the paperwork out for that with one of the lovely nurses who obviously didn't know about my BR, and she was going on about just pay the £65 and we'll sort the rest out through the insurer, I was about to explain that I was going to pay as the insurance wouldn't cover it when this other (snotty jobsworth) ooops I mean receptionist, jumped in and said "no disrespect to you but what with you financial difficulties we won't be extending any credit to you".
Now I can see exactly where she was coming from but did she have to put it like that? I didn't even try and defend myself, I was so embarrassed. I know it's all my own fault but I just felt really really small.
I know this all happened over a week ago but just wanted to share, it's been bugging me today because I've had to go back to collect the cats medication and it's just played on my mind a bit.Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
just stumbled across this as it was a new post, sorry to ear of your troubles, nothing i can do or say to help or anything but i do wish you all the best.
Personally id have a word with the owner of the vets, your personal problems are exactly that, personal, not for public judgement and not to make you the target off sarcastic remarks from a member of staff who is there to do a job, not have snide digs at you, if nothing else its crap service!!!0
