Just a thought but couldn't you list the websites you use with a comment as to why?

I would suggest you find out if your employer can sponsor you through the ECDL. Then you have your proof as it is a qualification that you would work through at home. In addition if you can find training guides for Excel etc online, you can say that you use the internet to learn advanced functions of office software outside the work environment or to go through what you have learned on training courses at work.

    Thanks guys

Neko - that is what I'm doing - the ECDL! But how can I prove that I'm doing this without a letter? The training people here keep all of the documentation, theres a little book they fill in when you complete each of the modules, but they won't let you take this out of the room for some reason (I DO actually work by the way, I'm not still at school :rotfl: )

I don't think telling my boss would threaten my job, I dunno I just don't want to tell her - not sure why this is. Some other people I work with know about it - it's just her I don't want knowing - guess I would feel a bit " :o " about it really.

Not sure what to do really - suppose I could take a screen print of something when I log into ECDL and hope they will accept that.

  • Hi Claire,

Can you not ask for a photocopy of the documents you refer to in your last post........also do you have a registration/user number or something similar that will confirm you are doing this course?
(just for the record, I have NO idea what ECDL is :o )

One would hope ! I would also make a note of what the course entail too, showing that the modules are done as homework/assignments or coursework maybe. Hope it all goes OK, let us know how you get on.

The ECDL passport is yours and you should have it, and only need to present it when you've passed the next module!

We offer ECDL in our Learning Centre at work and all our students keep their own 'Passports'.

    (well technically 19.04.2008 :rotfl:)

Some good news and some bad news

I've had a letter from my employer today saying they are stopping funding for the ECDL! Are they psychic and trying to give me a hernia :rotfl:

The good news is I can have my passport to take to the local college where I'll be lucky enough  to have to pay for the remainder of the course myself.

I'm not sure what to do now. Surely if I tell the OR that my employer isn't funding it anymore they wont allow internet? Or will they considering I've started it (I'm almost half way through)

This week hasn't exactly been one of my best weeks. Me and OH have decided to call it a day this week - we haven't been getting on for ages now so decided it was for the best. I'm sure the stress of bankruptcy hasn't helped (although not a direct cause). so now I'm a bankrupt spinster, god I feel like one of those social lepers I keep reading about in the guardian :rotfl:

I've got an interview on Wednesday, can you all keep you fingers crossed for me at 930am please!!

I've had my payslip - they haven't deducted any tax from my wages

I've just rung the Tax office and they have told me that my tax code has been missed off and they will deduct double next month. Now I'm not going to have a "normal" payslip to send to the OR until the end of June.

I think I'll wait until they write to me and then write back explaining the situation.
